While we're still waiting for official details, we have received confirmation from the blokes at Land Rover that the Range Rover Evoque Convertible you see above is the real deal, and it will debut at next month's 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

At this time, Land Rover is calling the roofless wonder a concept, though a production model seems likely at some point in the near future. Based on the three-door Evoque, the convertible model will offer seating for four and be billed as the world's first premium convertible SUV (sorry, Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet!).

Jesus. Wouldn't it have been a lot smarter to leave a skeletal structure as a rollbar like the Wrangler, so you know, it could at least pretend to have some kind of off-road pedigree?

Nope, we're not even going to attempt to hide the fact that this is literally just a Ford Focus with bigger wheels.

I don't see much sales volume for this one.

    But I could be wrong.

All I have to say is at least they did this with the Evoque and not the actual Range Rover.

The whole convertible crossover thing would be more permissible on Nissan's end if they had done it with the Juke. They just can't be forgiven for doing it to something the size of the Murano.

    Funny.

On Friday, I had a very weird dream about this exact car!! Except it was red with a black top. I chalked it up to a fever induced delirium. But no. It wasn't a dream.

I kind of like it. But I still prefer the 4 door. It's the only car that really interests me at the moment.

They already made a Freelander softtop. Wouldn't that count?
