    Porsche: 20,000 Panameras, No Sweat

Porsche expects to sell 20,000 Panamera cars in first year from launch

FRANKFURT (AFX News Limited) - Porsche AG expects to sell about 20,000 of its Panamera cars within the first 12 months after its launch, Boersen-Zeitung said, head of North America Peter Schwarzenbauer.

Porsche has so far only said it will start selling the Panamera from 2009.

Schwarzenbauer said 40 pct of the forecast 20,000 units are expected to be sold in North America, which normally accounts for that percentage of Porsche group's unit sales of all cars worldwide.

For 2006, he said, a two-digit growth rate in unit sales for all Porsche cars can be expected in North America.

Last year, Porsche unit sales in North America grew about 20 pct compared with 2004.

"We left a clay model of the Cayenne in the design studio" said Schwarzenbauer "and somebody sat on it. That is how we got the idea for the Panamera."

I wonder how they come up with the idea of Cayenne? They must have hired a guy that was expelled from Hyundai...
the 4-door Aston and Maserati Quattroporte look 5-times better than this concept.hopefully the production version will look better.

It does - there isn't any stupid glass hatchback, and it has unique headlamps, not Carrera GT items or any other. I don't know why all the artists' impressions are showing huge maxy-power vents either - the ones I've seen have smaller, more subtle intakes, similar in size to the Boxster's.
