Official pictures of the 2008 Volvo C30 released!

    http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/19/v...-shots-leaked/

According to Autoblog Spanish, Volvo had originally planned on releasing official details and photos of the C30 hatchback on July 25th, but you know how the internet works...

We did a double take at first seeing these pics of the production version of the C30 hatchback that first debuted as the C30 Concept at the 2006 Detroit auto show. The production version and the concept on which it's based vary little in appearance, right down to their fetching double-spoked wheels.

The front end is the typical Volvo fare found on the S40 and V50, and the rear reveals the same hatch found on the concept that is inspired by the legendary P1800 ES. The only changes of note are a new bumper out back that adds reflectors at the corners and more traditional round exhaust tips instead of the concept's triangular ones.

Hopefully Volvo will be forthcoming with more info on the C30 now that the cat's out of the bag.

I personally like it. I really wish the Chevrolet Nomad would have gone into production to compete with this, though.

That is one HOT car, i think the public knew the basic concept was going all the way to production. The Back end is different but i really like it.

20 comments on autoblog so far, and only one is negative... Damn this is going to sell like crazy.

The back is a little polarizing, but the rest is nice. They could make the rear pillars match the color of the car and just have two clusters instead of the two lights going up the pillar from the cluster, I think that would help.

this kind of 'premium compact' matches Volvo brand perfectly because Volvo is not 100% luxury car maker.I like the idea of A3 and C30,but the 1-series is a dud for me (although it sells just like everything BMW makes)
I would never like Cadillac to have a car in this segment, but come on GM,WHAT DO YOU HAVE SAAB AND ASTRA GTC FOR?!? Bring 9-x concept and Astra GTC to North American market, everybody except for those who cannot accept that some of GM cars are already world-class ,will be happy!

It definately is a bold design that a lot of manufacturers are scared to death to try. I think it looks great and definately hope Saab-Pontiac-Saturn has some competition for it.

It may be ugly, but it is definitely a very retro touch. They used to make a 2-door wagon/hatchback that looked similar from the back.

Nice greenhouse, nice rear, nice design overall.

I will take mine black with Subaru-style gold wheels. If it comes in T5 trim (AWD+turbo 2.5L+ 6speed) like the S40, I will take that option as well. Thank you.

    That hatch rocks my world.

I must say, I like this. Even though I don't like small cars, I seem to love these little hatchbacks. Same thing with the VW Rabbit and even the Pontiac Wave and Chevy HHR. If I lived in the city, I'd consider one of those,at least for parking, but I found that my Grand Prix is surprisingly maneuverable.

you mean rabbit? lol, I really am attracted to the GTI, its a great hatch. Too bad the Astra Saturn hatch isn't here yet nor a 9-2x replacement. I know the Astra is confirmed but what about the Saab replacement? Is it even being contemplated? the 9-3, 9-5 are already goin to Ep II so that leaves probably Delta II for a vehicle like this, no?
