Mercedes CLA: 26 city/38 highway MPG

    http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicl...nt=model-specs

The specs and configurator have finally been put online. 26 city/38 highway MPG hits exactly what the Millennial buyer is looking for: luxury and fuel economy.

I absolutely love the look of this car and can't wait to see reviews of it with the 4Matic transmission. I also can't wait to see the official US specs of the Audi A3.

IMO, these cars are going to change the game, especially since the cost of the "every day" brands are starting to creep into luxury territory.

If I'm buying a car and I have the choice between a Taurus, Maxima, Impala, A3 or CLA, I'm going A3 and CLA all day.

CLA AMG 45 is a cool AWD dual clutch 355 hp under 50 grand 4 door rocket.

I'm trying to convince my aunt who is going to get rid of her Saturn this year to get a CLA.
It'll be a tall order, I think. But hopefully, there will be a CLA in the family, if I"m lucky.

What a great looking car. I have zero need for a 4-door car but I find myself wanting to buy one just because it looks so great. I predict great sales for this thing.

I suspect the AMG version will be the new 335i for the mid-20s 50-thousandaire set.

Explain this logic to me. How do you go from buying full-size sedans to buying a compact and subcompact? The CLA is the size of a Cruze and the A3 is smaller than a Sonic. Its like saying "well I could buy this Tahoe for $45k or this X3 for the same price". Completely different vehicles for different purposes. If I'm in the market for an Impala its because I want a big car.

True on the surface. But some of us shop all over the map, not just one or two categories.

Some people shop for price point, crazy concept, I know. I personally see a CLA as a better value than an Impala.

A price point beyond their basic needs, yes. I don't need 4 doors so coupes and sedans are options for me in the future. Depending on my locational needs where ever I end up will determine what I get next.

I believe the Impala is a more substantial car than the CLA and would fit MY needs better than a CLA would. And I think it looks way better. 30 MPG in the Impala V6 is already better than my current car gets so I'd be happy.

For the price, some people will want the extra space. Others will go for the name and features and be attracted to the fuel economy numbers.

Honestly, I do believe the fuel economy number will be the biggest attraction for this car. It should be a success.
