Maybach is Germany’s Luxury Brand No. 1

The high-end car manufacturer Maybach is Germany’s luxury brand No. 1. Having scored a total of 247 points out of a maximum of 300, Maybach clearly takes the lead over other luxury brands belonging to the automotive, furniture and kitchens, watches, fashion, chinaware or leather goods industries. This is the result of the first ranking of its kind that was commissioned by ‘Wirtschaftswoche’, a business weekly, and conducted by ‘Brand Rating’, an agency based in Munich. Market researchers interviewed 150 experts from the industries analysed in the course of this study and in the process ascertained, among other things, the extraordinary and immaterial additional benefit of a luxury brand (‘brand appeal’) versus other brands. The interviewees said that Maybach is particularly convincing in the fields of ‘perfection’ and ‘aesthetics’.

In 2002, DaimlerChrysler revived the Maybach car brand that looks back on a long-standing tradition, and positioned it as a high-end luxury-car brand. In addition to the chauffeur-driven 62-type sedan with its long wheelbase and the 57-type with its shorter wheelbase, the tuned-up Maybach 57 Special will round off the exclusive model range offered by the car manufacturers of Sindelfingen as of the end of this year. Utmost comfort, excellent craftsmanship, extreme individuality and a perfect customer relationship management of the discerning clientele are the characteristic features of the brand with the dual ‘M’ escutcheon on the radiator bonnet.

I think Maybachs looks strange and unattractive. RR's look like the distant cousins of UPS trucks. Bentley wins that class for sure. Fying Spur and GT are too cool. 550HP, AWD, and the nicest interior ever. The Maybachs have been a flop, no surprise to me. The Bentley list is what, 2 years long? Not even Solstice wait it that long, I think.

I think the Maybach is made uglier through its resembelance to this car. The grilles are very similar, thats really it, but its quite prominent.

How does it look Korean? Which Korean car did you have in mind specifically, I'd like to see that if I may.

I think the Maybach 57 looks like a stretched version of the new Mercedes S Class W221.

More than likely, it is they (Koreans) who have cribbed design cues from Mercedes-Benz (and other European brands), so the Maybach resembling an S Class would therefore really have nothing to do with "Korean" design.

As for Bentley: I do agree, that the Continental GT looks nice, but I'm not sure about the Flying Spur

The awkward boot grafted onto the back of the car in place of the Continental GT’s integrated Coupe rear end, makes the Flying Spur looks ugly - and to make matters worse, people will often confuse the Flying Spur with the mere Rover 75 (below).

Aside that, there must be said: The Flying Spur is a fine car. But because underneath it is actually a Volkswagen Phaeton, so that makes it a seriously uncool car. Because it feels like a German trying so hard to be a British.

This in other hand, is a very cool Bentley:

P.S: I like your new signature.

    My 3 cents:
    - Maybach looks terrible. The new grille and alloys do help, but still it's far away from anything I'd like to spend such a lot of cash on if I had. The fomer S-class looks waaaay better.
    - Rolls-Royce looks like it's own caricature. Sorry, BMW, try another time.
    - Bentley's have this dumb look that puts me off. The front fascias should be more like the Arnage.
    - Anyway, the Audi A8 or the gorgeus Maserati Quattroporte look a lot better than these - and cost less!

I don't think that makes it uncool. Its still-ultraluxurious and just has the technology to go with it. I'd be VERY surprsied if the FS doesn't sell well. BTW the Arnage is ancient, and the FS shape is much nicer.

this car is the toyota avalon of the ultra luxury segment.
I think at hyunday xg300 when I see one.
probably the article is pure BS (they just wrote what the germans want to hear...), but one thing is clear:
all those rich germans waited for too long for a pure german car to prove their superiority.
the next move will be for sure reanimating the great HORCH brand in the same manner, with a dumbed down version.

    edit:
surfer, I haven't seen your post before I replied!!
what originally happened was that they've seen the concept drawings probably, this is why they come with the copy/paste. who cares who copied who, they resemble and that's terrible...

That Maybach 57 S looks great, but then it's just me...

I like the Continental GT, but it doesn't seem very "British" other than the interior.

The Roller is a disaster. It looks like a tank, and has no elegance to it at all. It looks like it weighs 4 tons. A Rolls Royce used to be elegant, this isn't.

And the Maybach looks like a dressed up S class. Nothing more nothing less.

Every day I see a Maybach photo I'm lucky Mom bought a Volvo instead of that monstrosity!!! If Wilhelm Maybach saw this (or even his partner Gottlieb Daimler), he'd probably vomit right now. What ever happened to the good looks of the Maybach Zeppellin??

I think everyone who doubts the luxury of the Maybach best go sit in one, and if you're lucky enough... drive one.

Yeah, in pictures it looks a bit odd, but when you're actually standing next to one and sitting and driving one... your perspectives are guaranteed to change.

Maybach's may be an odd looking car, but my gosh.... its gorgeous.
