That would be really sad... That car is so timeless, Fiat could make it for a decade and it would still be contemporary...

Grotesque! Its time for Antithesis. Not a second too soon.

Body 6/8s Maybach with a face only a mother, and a very myopic one at that, could love. The interior is Hyundai inspired and Fiat executed. Need I say more?

Put this Elephant Man of a car out of its misery before it scares the life out of some unexacting pedestrian.

It looks like a Jaguar and a Rolls-Royce had a love-child and then the Chinese copied it. I've never seen or heard of it before and I'm not the least bit saddened that I never will again.

Nope, it looks like a Buick LeSabre that's gone through "Back to the Future" transformation. I am sorry, but take a look at the details (shifter, door panels, and most of all - MATERIALS!)

Timeless is one word for it. I think that it looks like a Popular Mechanics sketch from 1990 of what a luxury car in 2000 would look like.

You obviously are a Hyundai hater, and I am not one to judge, but you seriously have to consider test driving a Genesis before you make assumptions. If you say you "have" test driven a Genesis and still aren't impressed, you are either lying or led by blind loyalty.

I don't think anyone would be ready to cross the ocean only to test drive a Hyundai. I feel sorry for Lancia. I don't like how it looks, but it has a piece of Italian charm I love (Maserati is full of it). European luxury-car buyers are hypocrites, most of them would never consider a Lancia/Cadillac/Lincoln/Infiniti. But there's always something good about their hypocrisy. They will never buy an overpriced Hyundai.

Re: Lancia could be killing Thesis.

I have not test-driven the Hyundai. There are, however, ways to get into a Genesis even in Europe

IMHO, neither the design nor materials of the Hyundai are on level with the Lancia. There is a profound difference - conversely, I invite all the US members to take time and visit Europe to see one in person. There really is a lot to justify the premium Fiat charges on those cars. The Hyundai is merely "correct" in that it does not compare badly, but it certainly is more on par with the Lucerne or Avalon than BMW, Mercedes or said Lancia.

I can tell you for on that the Hyundai isn't overpriced. The material used in it is better than any Lexus, Mercedes (hard plastic) BMW and Infiniti within 20K of it's price. If I was offered a V6 Genesis over an E-Class, M45, 5 series and GS (all V8's), I would get the Genesis, because it has more bang for your buck, and maintenance/Repair isn't more than my car payment, like the other Luxury Competitors. Well I'm not European. I, for one would buy this "Overpriced Hyundai" you speak of, but there really isn't one.

Odd comments — coming from schmucks who probably think an '85 Buick Regal was an attractive car...

The Thesis may very well be an acquired taste, but it's at least classy, distinctive, and unmistakably Italian.
