They mention the XE being midsized. Is the 3-Series considered midsized now with the 1-Series around? If not, than maybe they're doing what Cadillac did with the first couple of generations of CTS competing against the 3-Series but being almost midsize...
I wonder if they spin a smaller lightweight Z4 rival of off this platform they might use The E-Type moniker once again?

I wonder if perhaps it'll be launched in L.A this November?

^ They usually refer to what we would call compact luxury cars as midsize for some reason.
As SKH said, I think it's a European metric.
Even if this is revealed in Paris, it'll for sure be displayed in L.A . the following month. With this, and possibly the big Cadillac or V-Series CTS /ATS and maybe some new Buick's, the L.A. Show is shaping up to be excellent from my perspective.
I think it's the same thing with a different designation.
Look at the hard ridge on top of the fender. Interesting. I thought on the Prototype that was just an element added to confuse us. It runs from front to back in one continuous line. I like the front a lot. Nothing earth shattering, but very handsome.
They also show the Aluminum structure from all angles.
