Images of 2012 MB M-Class leak out

The new ML shows its face (and rear, and interior ...) unofficially

Here we see some fuzzy images of the new, third generation Mercedes-Benz M-Class. This midpack Mercedes SUV is expected to debut soon and will be new for 2012. Other than that, we knew very little about this new model. If I was pressed to guesstimate, I would say that Americans will be offered the ML350 with the 12 C350's DI 3.5L making ~300 horsepower for a base model. The ML350 BlueTec should continue much as it is now from an engine standpoint. The ML550 should receive the new twin-turbo 4.7L and make something similar to the 429 hp/516 lb-ft that it makes in the new Benz cars. We'll see if the hybrid model continues as well, and it probably will. The 7G-Tronic transmission and 4Matic AWD should make up the standard fare as well. An AMG model will probably arrive later.

The exterior of MB trucks don't appeal to me. They never have. Even the interiors have been boring to me. I like the "G-Class" exterior a little.. The one pictured here has a pretty nice looking interior, though...

Hey! Somebody stole the seats out of a Ford Flex!

The exteriors of most Mercedeses don't appeal to me. This truck is an improvement over the current one though. The rear lights remind me of the new Infiniti M.

I haven't been a Mercedes SUV fan really either. I do like the GL550 with its fat grille and huge wheels, etc. Great looking wagon-ish SUV (which is exactly why some dislike it). And I like the G. But the M-Class has always been "meh", and I'm not a GLK fan either. Still, this new M does look decent outside. It's the interior that interests me though.

The Flex wasn't the first vehicle to have the inset stitching in the seat cushion top and back, nor does the Flex have quilt-style stitching or piping.

I've never liked the ML much. I never understood why some people would be so in love with them. I love the GL and GLK, however, and I love the profile on this new ML. The front is better, but still not that great to me.

I think it is looking more like a short station wagon in profile than it has. I always thought that the profile was oddly proportioned on previous models. I like this new one better.
