Probably the same season it hasn't hit South Africa, Australia, or New Zealand, english language issues with the name. VW doesn't want to be explaining why one of its brands is named after a chair.

Seats were sold in South Africa until 2008. I don't thing the name was the reason of VW pulling the brand.

SEAT's were also sold in Australia until 1998, officially, though there were stock still avaliable through until 1999, with sales ending in New Zealand in 2001.

Issues with the name wasn't the problem, though depending on where you are in Australia, SEAT is pronounced; 'seat', 'say-it' or 'see-at'.

SEAT was withdrawn from the Australian market due to VAG - Volkswagen Australia Group, going through a massive rebuilding process in itself in Australia and couldn't afford to keep the brand, while building the Volkswagen and Audi brands and was also the reason why Skoda took so long to get here.

Now that Volkswagen and Audi are selling in record numbers here in Australia, Skoda is now their top priority. VAG however, has kept the door open for SEAT to return to Australia when the time is right.

It's a shame they didn't keep SEAT in Australia for a longer time, four years on sale, almost seems as if they didn't try to establish the brand. However it doesn't seem they have a large enough lineup to suite the Australia market, the Ibiza and Leon seem the only suitable ones (and possibly the upcoming Exeo, although that is just an Audi rebadge).

The Leon is a nice looking car, interesting alternative to the Golf.

I love the Leon, but don't see much difference with this new one. I'd have to see the old and new one side by side to tell the difference.
