    Bmw x7

The BMW X7 will be a direct competitor for the Range Rover, which may explain why the report advances a Ä130,000 starting price.

If this is not a mistake, it means the X7 will feature some very expensive technology. Or maybe itís because the BMW X7 will be the most luxurious model of the brand, even more luxurious than a 7-Series.

BMW is said to be planning an average annual production of 45,000 units at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. As for the X7ís design, a pre-production concept vehicle may solve the mystery next month at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Wow! That's a lot of money, for a car that will have to contend with GLS, Rover, and Escalade. Looks like BMW will be the first of the German Big 3 to sell a super-luxury SUV.

A flagship crossover? That's a new concept, but it may just end up working. It will be interesting to see what shape flagship vehicles take in the coming years.

The thing that upsets me about Cadillac is that up to the $100K mark, they have OWNED the super-expensive SUV market for the last 15 years, but they don't have the gall to sell an executive package on the Escalade. A 4 seat SWB Escalade with an extended center console or a 4 + 2 seat ESV could have long been the premier choice for business execs, but Cadillac/GM just doesn't have the foresight to make it happen.

Wow! V12! I like that they have the guts to build a large no excuses suv to rival about everyone.

I want to see it, there's no doubt about that.

It's basic economics - if you're building a Rolls-Royce SUV, which is a BMW underneath anyway, you might just as well build a big BMW SUV of the same platform and market to the tier below.

While I wouldn't say they owned it, I agree with the rest of your point. There is no excuse for not entering this high margin market. #opportunity cost

It absolutely makes sense for both to have a large platform vehicle in the stable for both brands. Its where the market is going, and if you can leverage the costs, that only makes it more appealing.

I think the Ä120000 is for the V12 model. The lower end model will be lower. If BMW is planning on selling 50,000 of them a year, they will have to have a lower asking price.

This could be interesting. After years of X7 rumors, BMW does it. Granted, I doubt it'll be more a flagship for the brand than the upcoming redesigned 7-Series, but you never know what they're planning. Just make sure if you go up against the Range Rover that you have the proper look and interior.

I am sure the X7 will rival the rover in luxury amenities, but will it have the same off-road capabilities? Adjustable suspension? Will it be as versatile?

On a side note, with the X7 and the new Grand Wagoneer coming its a pretty exciting time for full size suv's. I was worried these days were coming to an end.

Air-adjustable suspension, of course as that's available on X5 - but the same off-road capability, no as Range Rover will defend that to the death even though it's largely irrelevant in the ultra-luxury sector.

The phrase at Solihull is "bring it on".

X7 (bigger than X5) will be a hog. And nobody screams here it's too big for European roads???
