BMW renting cars by the hour
By Myles Kornblatt
STORY: http://www.motobullet.com/news.php?id=10439..............BMW has begun a pilot program in its hometown of Munich, Germany to rent some of its most popular cars, including the premium ones.
.........It seems most of the cars offered in BMW's "On Demand" service are oil-burners. This would be a problem with just about any other lineup, except BMW's diesels are actually fun. There is plenty of excitement tourists can have flogging a 325d convertible at €20 per hour. Anything from the 5-Series diesel range (including the GT) can be had for €23/hr, and a gas powered Z4 starts at €20/hr. The rental list goes as high as €32/hr for a 730d. Although for that money an enthusiast can opt for one of the ultimate gas offerings: the 5.0-liter V10 500 hp M6 coupe.
For those in North America reading this, don't be surprised if this program is a long time from ever showing up in the U.S. ..........Over here Hertz occasionally offers 430 hp Corvettes for over $100 per/day, but we're pretty sure the contracts are written in blood.
