My BMW sucks. I guess I won't park with the dog or valuables in the car until this is fixed.

Sounds good, though jesda1 may want to avoid 1997-2004 Buick Regal (W-Body). That model was recalled four times for fire risk; the fourth recall was issued because the first three weren't effective in preventing the Regals from becoming flambéed.

Well dayimm! I had a 2002 Regal and never got a recall for burn baby burn. The instrument panel DID commit suicide, and I had to fight the fkn dealer in Derry NH because of course they wanted to deny a warranty claim even though the car was under a 39/39 and miles were around 35000.
Anyone ever wonder why car dealerships got their reputation for being assholes?

    No? I didn't think so.

I'm one of the lucky ones that is affected by both recalls! Two for one special, I guess.

Repairs won't begin until the end of December. You know, the time of year when I like to park my car in the garage. Oh well. I hope it won't be a long, drawn out process for the repairs to be completed.

I would if they made a decent looking convertible.

    Re: BMW fire risk recall

My nephew bought a new 3 series coupe and it started to smoke on his way home from picking it up. A relay had decided that it didn't want to do its job. He was lucky it didn't catch on fire as he caught it very quickly. BM's I have had anything to do with have been quite good but they aren't immune from problems, like any car. I am surprised the a crank vent was spec'd with a metal that could corrode.

My older BMWs were spectacular, world class cars.

After around 2006 they started taking shortcuts.

Mine has been to the dealer, at least three times, for a burning smell. They say that they cannot duplicate or locate it.
