BMW 7 Series Reveal June 10th

Taking a page out of Cadillac's book by also offering a base 4 cyl.

The design of the 7er is an evolution, not a revolution, with BMWs confident and sculptural lines being the motif, or the theme of the entire car.

The 750Li moniker on the back means that this car has a long wheelbase configuration and a V8 Twin-Turbo engine. Oh, and with the help of its modular platform, the engine line-up will expand from 4-cylinders all the way to 12-cylinders.
    More at the link.

I'm anxious to see if they stepped it up a notch and used any Rolls Royce parts in it to help it better compete with the S Class.

Of course there's specific "Rolls Royce" parts. Not everything is BMW-specific.

If you think this looks like a 7-series, you're crazy.

Now 4 cylinders in a full size flagship are going to be acceptable.

Aren't they already for sale with four cylinders in different parts of the world like Europe?

There was rumor of a 720i in certain European markets, but I don't think it ever materialized. Maybe some of our European members can confirm or deny.

Let's see how BMW does a new flagship. I've heard it isn't a looker l, but technology wise it might be class leading. We'll see...

According to Wikipedia, the W222 has a four cylinder diesel as an option. Not sure how true that is though.

But then again the current gen really isn't a looker either....

I'll be interested to see how the CT6 stacks up against the new 7 Series!

We can get out of a 4 what we needed a 6 or an 8 for not too long ago. As long as the power and torque are there what does it matter how many cylinders or what the displacement is?

I didn't think so. This appears to be the first for the 7.

Yes but my point was that the CT6 was questioned for doing it and now the 7 is doing it.

    Not well.
At best, today, CT6 has a slight edge, mainly due to the advanced platform. That edge will be severely blunted by the carbon core 7-series.
While it won't approach the weight of the CT6 or XJ, it'll be an improvement.

As for the technology application? Forget it. BMW will blow CT6 away. Even based on the teaser information we already have, CT6 is already outclassed.

Factor in better attention to detail and higher quality materials, and CT6 will be outclassed.
