Audi has released a teaser video of the upcoming, all-new 2012 A6 midsize sedan. The video is less than half a minute long, but we can discern a couple minor details in advance of the car's Geneva Motor Show debut.

One change that owners of the current-generation Audi A6 can appreciate about the new car is the 2012 A6's revised door pulls allowing people to grab from both above and below the handle. Otherwise, from what we can tell from this out-of-focus video, the A6 will offer large twin five-spoke wheels and vaguely resemble the new A8. A big, chrome-lined grille and LED daytime running lights will be part of the package, as well.

    The new A7 Sportback's 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 making 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque will no doubt be offered as an option in the A6. Currently, the outgoing A6 offers a 3.2-liter V-6, a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 (300 horsepower, 310 pound-feet of torque), and a 4.2-liter V-8.

Fuel economy should improve from the current car, which starts at 21/30 mpg city/highway in front-wheel-drive 3.2-liter V-6 form and 18/26 mpg with the 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 and all-wheel drive. A bit later, a hybrid A6 is expected to launch. Before that happens, though, you can keep it right here for all your Geneva updates until the show starts in March.

Not to rain on your thread, but many pictures of the car actually leaked online already.

Not at all... it's the sheer pointlessness of the video that makes this so amusing.

Sooooooo.... Essentially minimal changes to the exterior like all of Audi's updates. I could have guessed that.

Interior is NICE!!!! Interesting take on the driver oriented cockpit.
    The wood choices are striking!!

Love the more aggressive front (the 09 A4 and 11 A8 could've learned from this 12 A6), love the wheels, love the interior. The side and rear view is too predictable for my taste, but it's good nonetheless.

I posted my estimations of what you can expect from this car mechanically in another thread:

American buyers can expect the 3.0 TFSI to carry over. It might be tweaked a bit for economy and emissions, and it might retain the current car's power or go all the way up to the S4's output if we're lucky. The base 3.1 FSI model is likely dead, to be replaced by either the 2.0T or the low-boost 3.0 TFSI as in the updated Q7. The 4.2 FSI will likely convert to the new A8's cleaner and more efficient version with 372 hp/328 lb-ft or thereabout. The 8-speed ZF is expected to come in all models. You're lineup will probably look much like the current one, with a base (2.0T or 3.0 TFSI) FWD model, a midline 3.0 TFSI Quattro, and a topline 4.2 FSI Quattro. Apparently Audi is working on a couple of new 4.0L DI V-8s, one a single-turbo version to replace the 4.2 FSI and one a twin-turbo that could serve in the new S6 and is similar to the new base Continental V-8. The RS6's future engine is completely unknown, although a high-boost 4.0TT might be in the cards. The S6 and RS6 might also get the S-Tronic 7-speed as well. No word on which models will get the torque-vectoring Quattro, but the S/RS models are practically guaranteed.

It looks very taut, almost spartan in those pics. I'd like to see a thin chrome trim for the tail lights.

At least it now looks like a RWD car.

The only thing Audi has going for them is the uber expensive looking lighting they've come up with. Otherwise the cars are very bland. I don't think the 5 series has anything to worry about with this A6.

Agreed. Their lighting systems are fantastic but otherwise no thanks.

Well, I'm getting used to them. But the crazy amount of Audi's I'm seeing with one of the LED sets burned out is becoming edpidemic.

Are you sure the cars you're seeing aren't just signaling? The DRLs on the same side as the in-use indicators go out while signaling.

    The full thing is out.

Looks impressive, especially the B & O stereo.
