    Another Loaner from BMW

So, the 740 is back in service...

This time, they gave me an X3 with only 4 miles on it. Does anyone here own one of these?

It seems to drift quite a bit on the freeway. I found myself correcting its trajectory, quite a bit. Odd and discomforting feeling...

I've driven one, didn't notice it. IMO, the GLC is a much nicer vehicle.

    What's wrong with the 7-Series?

I've driven a few second generation X3's and never noticed them drifting more than any other midsize CUV.

So that's why BMW's never signal. Automatic lane departure.

    Priceless comment.

I do not get why people ever buy those X3s for the money, its not worth it, just get a regular brand, like Chevrolet or Ford

Holy cow. There's a shutter in the steering wheel with low speed turns. 2nd visit for this. They put in a new transfer case during the first visit. At freeway speeds, you can hear and feel a pulsation through the steering wheel. There's a burning smell in the cabin. 2nd visit for this as well. They said that the oil filler cap was broken, but the smell is there with a vengeance. I think it's coming from the exhaust, somehow. Rough idle and a ton of carbon on the tail pipes. I was getting a little ill and put in a monoxide detector just to make sure i wouldn't die. Then, the satellite radio cuts out on an intermittent basis. They couldn't duplicate it the first time.
Anyways, yeah, the X3 drifts on the highway, big time. IMO, the Audi Q series is a much better vehicle, at a more reasonable price. I'm not a customer for this as it's too small. My wife might like it.

    I assume you haven't driven an F25 X3, then.

Do Chevrolet or Ford offer anything comparable? AFAIK, neither brand has a midsize CUV based on an FR (rear wheel drive) platform in its product lineup.

The first gen X3's are an electrical nightmare in my experience. I see a lot of them at the auctions with INOP peppered throughout the condition report.

The X5 is probably more desirable. I am coming to the conclusion that todays BMW is not the one from the 80's and 90's. They're a bit overrated. The amount of problems on this 7 series is troublesome. 3 years old and 26 thousand miles? I didn't have this much grief with the 300 that i sold to my Brother in Law....

IMO, there's little the BMW X3 does that the MB GLC doesn't do better... and the GLC was $5K less to boot.

Looking forward to driving an XT5.
The feature set in the Premium Lux is far more appealing to me than either of the Germans.
