This top chop is what I mean by not as simple as the slab sided real one bottom.

I copy/pasted the top of the side of a 1970's dark blue XJ6 onto it to give it the more rounded fuller side curves a Jag should have...

Given JLR's profitability, that's not a bad place to be - there's no value in a huge volume and low profits.

The interior, to me, looks good - but doesn't feel good. I've never got in a Jaguar and felt really good about it. I've seen pictures and thought to myself, "This is going to be my next car" - but then I get there, get in and don't even want to go for a test drive...

Mazda and the Hyundai Azera called. They want their rear doors back. Sorry your twiddling did nothing to improve on the XJ's look.

An AWD option for the V-8s would be great. And frankly that's about all it needs at present, along with the announced updates of course.

Side note: With all of the updated and redesigned large sedans, do we have any idea what Lexus is doing with the LS? The big update for 2013 did little to actually keep it competitive. It's surprising how Lexus is just letting it sit, although I've read rumors of a big change coming with the new one.
Do we know if the XJ's interior materials have been upgraded or not?

Not sure. I imagine there are some minor changes but probably not too much.

I've never liked the exterior, and this doesn't change a thing for me. I find it super generic. If you took off the badges and told me it was the new Lexus LS, I'd totally believe it. And WTH is up with that odd blacked-out C pillar? I absolutely hate it. I'm not sure what they're trying to accomplish with it, but it absolutely ruins the profile.
