    2015 Audi A3 Quattro: 24 city 33 highway MPG

(I got a sneak preview of this car yesterday and it is incredible. Feels bigger than the A4 on the inside and looks even hotter. The rest of the automotive industry really, really has their hands full. It is cavernous compared to the CLA and feels roomier than the ATS.)

    http://blog.caranddriver.com/2015-au...3-mpg-highway/

As compact German sports sedans go, the 2015 Audi A3 2.0T Quattro has adequate, but not stellar, fuel economy. The EPA rates the 2.0T with Quattro all-wheel drive—for now, the top powertrain until the hot-rod version S3 arrives—at 24-mpg city and 33-mpg highway.

While that combo beats the larger, same-engined A4 2.0T Quattro by 4 mpg in both tests, the 2014 BMW 228i with the 240-hp 2.0T, rear-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic is pegged at 3 mpg better on the highway and just 1 mpg less in the city. All-wheel drive is not yet offered on the 228i. The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA250 is still waiting on a 4MATIC model for the base 208-hp 2.0-liter turbo four, but at 26-mpg city and 38-mpg highway, the front-wheel-drive Benz has a lot of room to drop. Fuel economy figures for other A3 models have not been announced.

The A3 comes with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic on all trim levels. All-wheel drive comes standard on models with the 220-hp, 2.0-liter turbo four and is unavailable on models with the 170-hp, 1.8-liter turbo four. We expect to see a new 150-hp, 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder to be offered in the A3 as well, for the fans of oil burners out there.

Regarding room, the CTS feels like a tuna can to the house that is the S6.

That's a big problem. To me.

Then buy the S6 and spend some time in the service department.

This car is going to be bigger than the CLA in terms of popularity and stealing sales from mainstream brands. I can't say that enough. This has the right feature content at the right price and the looks, power and handling to match.

And right now no one except Mercedes has a proper answer to it.

I'm still disappointed with Audi dropping the A3 hatchback/wagon. I'm just not a big fan of sedans and the few times that I drove the A3 I really enjoyed it. I think the Q3 really compromises on cargo capacity compared to the previous A3. I do really like the new dash of the Q3 though (I've only seen it in pictures though.)

Hmm... I didn't think the CTS was that bad. It's really the trunk that I had major issues with. I didn't try the back seat tho.

Early reviews on the A3 have it being better than the CLA. Balance still goes to the 320i though.

I like the A3. Spacious, efficient, quickish, and well styled. The size seems perfect to me, similar to a lot of compact sport sedans from the 90s, and I like 90s cars.

I've test driven it twice. The first time I hated it because I wasn't sure if it was turbo lag or transmission lag, and the sales rep I was working with wasn't good. Plus I couldn't wind it out or take it on the highway due to rush hour. It was also a pre-owned model because it was all they had.

The second time I tried it at another dealership and it was a totally different experience. I really liked the car, got to wind it out on curvy roads and take it on the freeway.

I think it's going to be my next car once the Season of Audi event starts. Still wish I could get a 3 Series instead but the A3 offers more equipment for far less and the engine is closer to a 328i than a 320i.
