2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan Gets Early Web Reveal

2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan Gets Early Web Reveal

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan has trickled onto the Web a few hours ahead of schedule today, though only in relatively low-resolution form, and without all of the accompanying details. Nevertheless, the leaked images and info give us a good idea what to expect when the new C-Class debuts at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show.

Redesigned for the new model, the 2012 C-Class gets a new interior to match the higher-end sedans in the lineup, and a new start-stop 7G-Tronic transmission system. Europeans will get diesel engines once again, but specs on the U.S.-bound gasoline engines haven't been revealed yet.

Beyond that, there's not a whole lot to see aside from what there is to see; that is, what you see is what you get. A fresher, perhaps more understated look, and a sharper cabin.

Seriously? Looks like the exterior style is a step backwards to me.

Not sure I like the updates, but one thing I've always appreciated about the C was its overtly RWD stance.

The profile is just all wrong. The roof is too high, or the belt line is too low. There's also something off-putting about that rear door.

The look is MB all right. Understated to the point of stale and heading to boring

If the interior improved.... did the E-Class coupe's interior also improve??

Yawn. Another Kia inspired design. Give me a break.

Well hopefully the interior is improved. If it is, the 302 hp C350 with a slick interior would be a great compact performance luxury sedan.

It's certainly understated, but it is in no way a Kia-inspired design. After all, everyone and their mother knows the South Koreans have been ripping off German and Japanese designs for a millenia -until recently.

Nope. The E-Class Coupe is on the E sedan's schedule, due for a facelift for 2014.

This car has aged rapidly. The Lexus IS, which is a two year older design looks much better and more modern.

Like the Kia Amanti? But come on, it looks so generic it's not even funny! The interior of the C class is just awful. A CTS puts this car to shame in every way possible. When I say Kia, I don't mean a ripped off Kia, but, well, you know what I mean.

Agreed. Never liked Mercedes, never will. BMW > Mercedes Benz.

The side profile of the C class reminds me of an E39 BMW 5 series...

That's a damned shame. That's the one thing keeping me from putting the E convertible on my list.

Now I understand. I took it to mean in design, although I still fail to see any Kia relation in execution or anything. The Amanti ripped off the E-Class' headlamps, S-Type's grille, and the Town Car's rear roofline.

The current C class has an excellent in-person presence, for whatever reason, that makes it my favorite MB. Clean, well proportioned, pretty much perfect. Too bad its a Benz.

That presence is sorely missing in the above photos. Too bad, because it looks like the interior is finally not a complete POS.

I do like the E's looks. 3-Series > C-Class and 1-Series > A/B, but other than that I rather think MB has BMW beaten. Well, the 5 and E are pretty close too.
