Looks conservative in its styling, which is probably a good thing considering this is BMWs bread and butter car so its the last car they can mess up.

Looks like a smaller 5-series to me and seems like BMW is consolidating their whole lineup's styling along the same lines like Audi does.

Simple design, but it's nice and it works.

The ATS definitely has some competition, I think this looks fantastic!

I think this design looks nice and clean yet fairly conservative which is what the 3 series tries to stick to.

I would be shocked if BMW tries to consolidate all of the looks because, like him or not, Chris Bangle was put in a position to get rid of that exact thing from the previous lineups when sales went flat.

Once he got rid of "same sausage different lengths" sales took off.

However you can argue that their current lineup looks the same.

I think most people would disagree. It's pretty easy to tell the current 3/5/7 series apart as compared to most of the previous generations, which was the task given to Bangle when he was put in charge of design.

I'm sure it will look nice, but I don't see anything to get me the slightest bit excited. I am curious to see the c-pillar and the rear of the car. I can't really tell what's going on back there from these pics.

It's gonna be a small 5er, and it will work very well in its favour.

The C-pillar and greenhouse will probably be very similar to the current model and the tail lights look very 5 series inspired.

you guys are splitting hairs; stylistically-speaking, it's a mild MCE.
    There's nothing new here.

Even under Bangle, BMW's shared styling cues...the tail lights...and hoffmeister kink and double kidney grilles are a given.

Your pic's not working for me right now, unfortunately. To my eyes, these overhead shots make it look really round out back, sort've like a late 90's Bonneville. Do you see it or is it just me?

Nice evolution back the days of the same vehicle that comes in 3 sizes. Small medium and large.

I like the styling of all three.

Cool tech with 245 hp turbo 4, twin turbo 6 with manual or DCT transmission.

I look forward to the comparision tests with A4 and ATS

BMW and MB are very conservative in their designs, evolutionary at a glacial pace. It seems that BMW and MB have a mindset of "My cars look perfect, why change them?" Some will think Old World, others just think Old. Or boring.
GM design leads the world in dramatic bold styling that sometimes misses, but usually leads the design world.

Looks very nice, obviously this is the Corolla of the segment, we will see how Cadillac plays in the segment, though from Autoline Detroit last week, I gathered it was (ATS that is) smaller than the 3....

I love the long hood look
