one part the JK "opened up" the JEEP to people that "need" a 4 DR SUV and add in the "mom van" of the modern CUV and the JEEP is more "masculine" and an ANTI-MOM-mobile

I can see a lot OF SALES EX now with the NEW interiors AND the turbo 4 + ZH8 speed trans the fuel economy should be OK to good

not a bottomless pit of sales increase but IMHO a LOT of volume to be had

Curious, will this be as capable off road as a GMC Acadia?

Now you're just being ridiculous, nothing is as capable off road as the GMC Acadia.

Ford gave new details about the retro SUV to dealers at a recent event.

    Car & Driver

We have been eagerly awaiting the Ford Bronco's return since it was first officially announced back at the 2017 Detroit auto show, and now it appears we'll have to wait a little while longer. According to Automotive News, which gleaned info from dealers who attended a Ford event last month where future products were shown, the Bronco will hit dealer lots in late 2020. Thankfully, to tide us over, the dealers leaked some details about the Bronco that were previously either only speculation or not known at all.

The biggest news to Bronco fanatics will surely be that the new SUV will be available in both two- and four-door form. We were expecting a two-door variant based on Ford's first teaser photo of the Bronco (shown above), but the inclusion of a four-door version is news to us—and it makes a lot of sense, given that the four-door Jeep Wrangler, the Bronco's biggest competitor, makes up a huge majority of total Wrangler sales. We recently got our first look at a Bronco test mule, which was based on a current Ranger and had a short wheelbase indicating that it was for a two-door model. We wouldn't be surprised if both Broncos' dimensions are extremely close to those of their Wrangler counterparts.

Think the Bronco will be a success and finally get GM to respond, just hope it is not a rehash of the current RWD Trailblazer from Isuzu.

Should be a GMC Jimmy (at least GM hasn't screwed up this name with a redundant FWD SUV), or could use Envoy as well.

Best strategy would be to introduce it as the GMC Jimmy (or Envoy) to establish it in the market and see what sales are, then if it catches on GM can expand to a properly designed (and styled) Chevrolet Trailblazer - of course that is assuming GM won't already screw up the Trailbalzer name with another redundant FWD Trailblazer in the U.S. market before that.

Another reason to do with GMC is that GMC can incorporate some of the HUMMER design cues into a viable GMC product and focus on profits with the higher ATP's that will be needed initially to justify the product and can easily expand the product to Chevrolet with different styling later. This creates two different products focused at different parts of the same segment and allows it to incorporate the latest technology as needed to remain competitive and profitable and allows for multiple variants from the same basic platform that if properly developed can be shared with not only Colorado/Canyon but Silverado/Sierra/Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/XL as well.

GM has a good base in the ZR2 but really needs to be modernized with a more space efficient interior and less powertrain overlap where the Jimmy (Envoy) would use the 2.7L Turbo, 4.3L V6 and updated 2.8TD along with a Strong Hybrid/Electric variant.

I really don't think GM cares to play in these niches. Remember, they are working toward not being a car company and instead be a tech company (as in electric and autonomous vehicles). With some of the things that are said, they almost show a disdain for their current situation and it's vehicles................ as in a necessary evil.

That's how I'm starting to look at it, like they are going in to a we don't care about these other products because of the direction we want to go attitude, and I am thinking it may come back and bite them in the butt.

    Think you are right.

Sad as GM is on borrowed time, you cannot be one thing for over 100 years then change into something else - especially when that something else already has many established strong companies that can out spend and out market you. And we all know how bad GM is at marketing.

And the funny thing is how many "experts" said that Jeep was making a huge mistake offering a 4-door Wrangler, now you don't see many 2-door Wranglers on the lots.

Agree, think the updates will improve sales for the Wrangler and is why the Gladiator was created and Ford is re-introducing the Bronco as neither would have happened had Jeep listened to the "experts" and not created the 4-door Wrangler.

    This.
Ford has to build vehicles that align with where the market is heading,
the four door Bronco looks mighty impressive, the guys have done a
great job by going out and listening to people who restore so many of
the classic versions....Ford gets the emotion of those enthusiasts and
has taken that on board with styling and design...

When you see it, the above will make sense, it is definitely a Bronco
and there will be no mistaking it for a Jeep...the two door looks to
have a lot of classc Gen 1 flavor and styling....

This is good. Having a real jeep contender will,or at least should, keep the players biting at each others heels for the sales. That is good for the consumers. CAN YA HEAR ME NOW GM ????

Plus Jeep may be getting a bit too big for it's britches lately, what with price increases and sometimes lower quality. Maybe Ford can light a fire under them.

That's good to find out that they're trying to stay true to its roots in ways as much as possible.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again here... competition is a great thing and benefits the consumer most of all. I love the Wranglers, but I agree with this. Wrangler has been unchallenged forever, and has gotten comfortable without having to compete and they keep trying to find the price ceiling... which I think they have. And there are some things that can be fixed, and hopefully the news of this Bronco has Jeep striving to keep improving their product.

I love how you can strip Jeeps right down in seconds, how very practical they are. Easy to strip down great maintainability at the heart of thier design and not just a dull boring space sapping low drag co-efficient number, the Bronco looks like it will be a winner, sounds great 'fun' sadly a word missing bigtime in automotive designs of designs of today .

Maintainability thats how wars are won! Great to see Fords designers listening to thier customers and what they want, the way to go.
