TFL:Lincoln Continental Spotted In The Wild

After thirteen years, Lincoln is bringing back the Continental nameplate in a big way. The production version was unveiled in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show earlier this year and aims to replace the outgoing MKS sedan. Spotted in the wild by TFL fans with a sharp eyes is the 2017 Lincoln Continental, which looks to be very close to final production form.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Kudos to the people at Ford who choose exterior colors!

(I still think the car looks like a brick with a grille, though)

Some angles I think the car looks really good, some great, others, like the one above not good at all. I'm not sure how much better we could have expected given the starting point though. And regarding color choices, so far the white looks the best, I think it hides some of the less attractive aspects of the design better than the darker colors.

The car is fairly attractive. The price is REALLY reasonable. I still think that the CT6 edges it out in looks and some say that the CT6 is more fun to drive.

Looking at it more, am I the only one who thinks the front end looks way more expensive than the back? Taillights look a little cheapo.

megeebee, I'm pretty sure you have a closet Lincoln fetish.

Car looks great, and I agree Lincoln has some of the best exterior colors available. They had a red one that was at the media unveiling in Detroit and it looked great too. It looks even better out in natural light.

    That's funny coming from you.

Car looks great, and I agree.
    I never said THAT.

    I've seen a beautiful green-taupe too I think on a MKZ.

I don't know if I would call it "cheapo". The lamp-bar itself is well done IMO (if, like the rest of the car, un-original). But overall, the rear end graphics are very plain compared to the rest of the car, which is very "busy".

My phone added a period after the "I agree". I fixed it.

I was saying I agree with you with the colors.

Those wheels are terrible! Overall, it's a nice car.

The Continental is not supposed to be fun to drive.

Fun to drive is a relative statement, it'll mean different things to different people. The Fusion and MKZ are both 'fun to drive', they're both competent in terms of handling, fun on a curvy back road, and with the new engines they'll be relatively quick/fast. No reason to think the Continental with the 3.0TT engine won't be also, though the added weight and likely softer suspension will dull that some.

The CT6 as it stands now is also 'fun to drive'. Having just finished reading the MT write up on the 3.0TT version they said it reminded them of the Town Car. Because Cadillac requires AWD on any non-4cyl CT6 you're not going to get the CTS-V like oversteer, you're not going to be sliding the tail around. The CT6 as it stands now, prior to the 4.2TT is not really a performance sedan in the spirit of the ATS/CTS.

Sooo, is it possible the Continental will be 'fun to drive', of course, because being 'fun to drive' doesn't require you put up sports car like lap times.

*I say all that as a guy who would rather have a RWD car!

Edit: What constitutes 'fun to drive' to you?
