Ford says F-150 fleet deliveries to quicken as 2nd plant comes on line

    LINK
DETROIT (Reuters) -- Ford Motor Co.'s launch of the redesigned, aluminum-intensive 2015 F-Series
remains on track, and fleet customers will have their orders filled in greater numbers in the second quarter as production accelerates, a top executive said on Friday.

With the F-Series, including the popular F-150, the top-selling vehicle in the United States and a key profit driver for the No. 2 U.S. automaker, analysts and investors have been watching closely the launch of the
new model that began last fall. On Friday, Ford began production of the truck at a second U.S. plant,
    in Kansas City.

"We are on schedule," Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, told Reuters. "Everything is going to
    plan very nicely."

He reaffirmed company statements that early production is being shipped to meet consumer demand and thus
retail sales of the truck are up, while fleet sales are down.

He said that spread would be more pronounced in the March U.S. sales results, and fleet customers would see
more of their demand met in the second quarter.
Ford will be relieved once Kansas City is back on line and producing F150s again,
the new F150 is big business, remaking Ford's No.1 cash cow comes before all else.

Well ALG just rated the residual value of big three 2015 trucks....
    Ford 58%
    GM 51%
    Ram 46%
after 3 years...that gives Ford a $4000 advantage over GM and $6000 over Ram...
Guess aluminum is already paying huge dividends!

In spite of the dire warnings of critics, the Alloy F150 is away and starting to ramp up sales.
and next year the Super Duty trucks will also have an alloy body, after that Expedition/Navigator.

All of those vehicles are needed to get the scales of economy for aluminum
yes it is a big bold step but one that is within Ford's reach but how long has
it been since an American company did something on such a grand scale.

I hope this pushes GM to do something technically challenging on a large scale product
because that's the way US car makers can capture the imagination of North American buyers.

I want to see Ford, GM and FCA earning massive profits in North America and really gap the
foreign competition on technically superior products, command good prices and buyer respect.

Beside the aluminum CT6? The industry is going towards aluminum, and GM is no exception.

Re: Ford says F-150 fleet deliveries to quicken as 2nd plant comes on line

If Ford can manage to reduce F250 and F350 weights down closer to the steel body F150,
the improved fuel economy could lead to a direct increase in sales, especially higher trim levels.

As the market improves and fuel prices stay low, there's a huge tidal wave of sales coming for
1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks so it's up to Ford and other manufacturers to offer as much product
possible to capture these sales, make the vehicles as efficient as possible and offer as many
features as possible - make as much money as you can.
