    They look extremely similar. Why didnt ford just import the territory instead of going through the trouble of engineering a new vehicle?

    SVT:

    Different markets. The Territory was developed for Australia, not the US (where it would be too expensive to be competitive).

    Volume. Importing Territory SUVs from Australia would be difficult in the volumes they plan for the Freestyle.
