Anyone notice the body panels on the 15 f150s look wavy?

I've been noticing this on trucks I see going down the street. If you are in front or behind them, slightly off to the side the metal looks wavy. You can almost see creases in it. Not only have I seen this on the street but a few weeks back I saw this on the trucks in the lot. Friend of mine wanted someone to ride with to check them out and I kept noticing this.

So, when Ford Dealer says "They all do that" for once they won't be lying!

My black GMT900 looked that way too. It's nothing new. It's thin material to save weight and meet fuel economy standards in both cases. The sheet metal on my '09 would get dinged up if you looked at it the wrong way. It wasn't as noticeable on my white 2500HD because of the lighter color. I have a friend with a '13 black FX4 and it's like that on his too.

Maybe, the panels are just friendly. I can see how that gets annoying. Like when little kids insist on waving at you when you walk past them.

Perhaps but it's much much more noticeable on the 15 f150s. Maybe this is an advantage of GMs built in fender flare look...more creases gives rigidity vs long flat panels make this noticeable.

The only vehicles I notice as bad as the new Ford trucks are 60s and 70s cars. I find this unacceptable on any new car, especially Fords most important money maker.

    There are explanations:

    1. You got some bad acid.
    2. It's a Super Top Secret Laminar Flow Dealy-bop for better MPG.
    3. QA is the sheets, like after those Ex-Lax chocolate chip cookies you accidentally ate.
    4. Aluminum. It's for cans, not trucks.

Re: Anyone notice the body panels on the 15 f150s look wavy?

Sheetmetal is just thin these days. My Forester has a number of little dents and dings and waves. When trying to fix a chip in the windshield I put a dent on the top of the driver's side front fender with my knee.

This is in contrast to my LeSabre, where I can stand on top of the fenders, hood, and trunk without denting them

F150's panels are made of thicker aluminum than comparable HT sheet steel.

If any of this had a grain of thruth to it, the press like Consumer Report would be all over it
and there would be pictures of bad workmanship in every article from now until doomsday
    but guess what?
Nada, zippo . My guess is that there are isolated cases of sub- par builds, just like any other brand.
