Limited is another step above SEL. The Sport will be a sort of a limited model.

That said, there is no NEED for limited - it is not like there are options missing from the SEL - navi, ambien lighting, leather, heated seats, tricked out dash, chrome everywhere outside, it is all there.. it is just Ford's choice to no have Limited in their smaller cars. Part of it comes from the demographics. Sport or SEL as a top trim makes the whole model seem more youthful. Limited implies a more serious, older- people car ... Hense, Taurus gets Limited, Fusion does not ...

So in regards to the competition, the new Fusion will have,

best fuel economy in the segment with the I4 at 32mpg
best performance with a D35 sport model with AWD
best value everywhere in between with all this technology

I would not doubt if the I4 w/ 6spd AT does not have the best performance as well, compared to other I4's. Who else is including 6 speeds?

The 2009 Malibu, Aura, and G6 2.4L are rated at 33 MPG highway. I've been told GM is trying to get 34 MPG out of the 2010's by applying some of the XFE principles they used on the Cobalt.

I stand corrected on the I4. Also, I forgot that Mazda got the 3.7L first in their 6, although it does not offer AWD and weighs more due to the larger new size

    How about the Malibu hybrid?
I hear Fusion will have fuel economy in the 40's. That's pretty impressive, considering it also offers some performance as well.
