Brake Lights, Dash Lights, and no Fog lights Why?

    Hello,
I have a 2002 pontiac grand am GT(as my name say as well). I replaced the board that the brake lights, turn signals, and reverse light plug into. I did the left side yesterday. ran out of time and then just did the right side. After getting the right side in i turned on my headlights with the switch. I got no illumination but brake lights will come on if i press the brake pedal. turn signals work and reverse light works.

After switching the old right side light board out with the new, the dash lights are dim. intensity does not shift when moving the dimmer switch. Then also the fog lights don't turn on with the switch.
pretty much this is my face

    thanks for any help.

Are the circuit boards the correct part number and do you have the correct bulbs in the right spot?

well drove the car a little this morning mainly to go get lightbulbs. Noticed the Service Vehicle Soon light came on. Its my dads car so i call him up to ask when that light came on and he said it must have just come on.

Looked up in the owners manual and it says it stays on if it detects a problem on the vehicle such as daytime running lamps or an automatic light control malfunction... what does automatic light control mean?

So with this problem it leads me to say a relay is bad? all the fuses check out as good.
    Really any help is appreciated.

Check you headlights, both low and high beam, if one is burned out it will turn on the Service Vehicle soon light. If one is out replace both as a pair. Automatic light control turns on the headlights when it gets dark.

I'd have to check for sure but it might, the fog lamp relay uses the high beams for a ground on some cars.

Could a relay have gone bad and been causing these problems?

High beams work low beams work.

Its headed for the dealer tomorrow. Thank you for your responses but i'm just at the end of my rope.

question though still: if a service vehicle soon light comes up like i have right now, does that mean the dealer can plug a computer into my car and pinpoint my problem?

They will get a code and then they can know what circuits the computer is seeing problems with. It is up to the tech to diagnose the circuit and find the fault.
