Re: AC Delco parts versus GM part# parts

    I'm showing:
    GM# 12429204 - ACD 20-17 (1st design)
    GM# 12429205 superceded to 88964168 (2nd design)
    GM# 88964168 - ACD FW293

Not sure what the year or date break is for the 1st & 2nd design.

Hope that helps, in this case the GM and ACDelco part are one in the same.

You buy any of the above parts, they'll have both part numbers, buy it from the dealer, or from an ACDelco WD, its the same part (different price).

Thanks, I ended up buying the ACD FW293. Out of curiosity, how did you determine they were the same?

When I looked up the OE part it referenced the ACDelco number in the description, GM only does that on dual-branded (or dual-part numbered) parts. 99% of the time both part numbers are on the box/bag, these parts are sourced from the same vendor and shipped out of the same PDC's.

Re: AC Delco parts versus GM part# parts

Unless you have some technicality pushing you to stick with GM, AC delco is OEM and is the same for most things. However, I've heard mixed reviews on AC delco. Don't rule out your aftermarket selections. There might be something just as good for cheaper or something much better for the same cost.

Re: AC Delco parts versus GM part# parts

AC Delco is 'meets or exceeds', they are not necessarily OEM GM parts.

AC's parts are built by third parties, GM is gonna ship the GM part that they put on your vehicle.

If you ask enough people, you'll get the answer you want.
