    Didnt see this anywhere else:

#14404: Special Coverage Adjustment - Transmission Clutch Wave Plate - (Mar 3, 2015)
Subject: 14404 Special Coverage Adjustment Transmission Clutch Wave Plate

    Models: 2007-2009 Buick Enclave
    2008-2009 Chevrolet Equinox, Malibu
    2009 Chevrolet Traverse
    2007-2009 GMC Acadia
    2007-2009 Pontiac G6
    2008-2009 Pontiac Torrent
    2007-2009 Saturn AURA, OUTLOOK

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Condition
Some 2007-2009 model year Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, Pontiac G6, Saturn AURA and OUTLOOK, 2008-2009 model year Chevrolet Equinox and Malibu, and Pontiac Torrent, and 2009 model year Chevrolet Traverse vehicles identified above and, equipped with a 6T70 or 6T75 - 6 speed FWD automatic transmission may experience a cracked or fractured wave plate, resulting in a loss of 3rd, 5th and reverse gears.

    Special Coverage Adjustment
This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.

Dealers are to replace the 3rd /5th / reverse clutch plate. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after March 2, 2015 are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to March 2, 2015 must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.

    Vehicles Involved
All involved vehicles are identified by Vehicle Identification Number on the Applicable Warranties section in GM Global Warranty Management system. Dealership service personnel should always check this site to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs. It is important to routinely use this tool to verify eligibility because not all similar vehicles may be involved regardless of description or option content.

    Customer Reimbursement For US
Customer requests for reimbursement of previously paid repairs to correct the condition described in this bulletin are to be submitted to the dealer by March 31 2016, unless otherwise specified by state law. If this is not convenient for the customer, they may mail the completed Customer Reimbursement Request Form and all required documents to the GM Customer Assistance Center. Repairs must have occurred within the 10 years of the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

All reasonable and customary costs to correct the condition described in this bulletin should be considered for reimbursement. Any questions or concerns should be reviewed with your GM representative prior to processing the request.

When a customer requests reimbursement, they must provide the following:

A completed Customer Reimbursement Request Form. This form is mailed to the customer or can be obtained through GM GlobalConnect.
The name and address of the person who paid for the repair.
Paid receipt confirming the amount of the repair expense, a description of the repair, and the person or entity performing the repair.
Important: GM requires dealers to approve or deny a reimbursement request within 30 days of receipt. If a reimbursement request is approved, the dealer should immediately issue a check to the customer and submit an appropriate warranty transaction for the incurred expense. If a reimbursement request is denied, the dealer MUST provide the customer with a clear and concise explanation, in writing, as to why the request was denied. The bottom portion of the Customer Reimbursement Request Form may be used for this purpose. If the denial was due to missing documents, the customer can resubmit the request when the missing documents are obtained, as long as it is still within the allowed reimbursement period.

Warranty transactions for customer reimbursement of previously paid repairs are to be submitted as required by GM Global Warranty Management. Additional information can also be found in Warranty Administration Bulletin 11-00-89-004.

Re: 2007-2009 6spd GM Extends Wave Plate Coverage 10yr/120,000

Found this on Wiki: "Prior to 2009, this transmission had issues caused by a very weak 3,5,R wave plate, which made this transmission prone to failure in GM products. Updated wave plates were released for many clutches in 6T70."

Hmmm...how can I find out if my 2009 G6 GXP has this transmission? I only have 36k on her right now.

If you have the 6 speed automatic in your 2009 G6 then you have the transmission prone to wave plate failure. I dont believe the entire 2009 run had the issue, atleast on the Enclave forum fewer '09s seemed to run into it. Alot of 2008 owners did.

If your G6 has the 3.6 engine then you have the 6T70/75, if you have the 3.9 engine you have the 4T65E and finally if you have the 2.4 engine you have the 4T45E. The 3,5,reverse wave plate was up dated in 2010, it still breaks but not as often, I still get them in my transmission shop with a broken wave on a regular basis. Had a Buick towed in yesterday, 2011 with 77,000km, second owner and no help from GM.

Shouldn't this repair be covered under GM of Canada's 5 year / 160,000 km powertrain warranty?

IMO yes but GM will not touch it, customer went to two dealers both said he isn't covered. In fact years back I had and older fella come to me in 2008 with a 2007 Buick Lucerne had 37,000km and a bad EPC solenoid, he just bought it used and got a Mil. I scanned it and told him I could fix it but GM by rights should cover it. Two dealers later and he was back, GM said sorry cannot help you, so I fixed the old boy up, fell in love with the Buick and bought my wife a new one. I see this a lot up here, mainly GM and Honda won't cover problem if your not the original owner.

This has been the experience with many 2nd Enclave owners that had waveplate/solenoid issues (common with this tranny these years). 2nd owner no help - first owner 50-60% help.

I agree with you the buc if you are out side of the 5 year/100k warranty, as a second owner they previously helped none, and as a first owner they would help anywhere fro. 30 to 100%. Yet regardless of ownership if a powertrain item goes out within the 5year/100k it would be covered as long as it's in the states. Don't know if you are from Canada? Now at this time in the states they have added this new policy a few days ago that the 3 5 r cushion plate is covered for 10 yr/120k now.

Hoping this is covered in Canada as well, going to call a GM dealership and see what they say. Wondering if they cover the complete tear down to recover all the broken bits and pieces.

You are actually better off paying the diff for a reman tranny vs having the dealer rebuild it should your wave plate fail. Alot of people who got rebuilds found their solenoids failing shortly thereafter - most likely due to left over contamination from the broken wave plate.

My Enclave solenoids went about 18k miles after my wave plate rebuild, but they were acting up well before then.

Gochman, how much did it cost to get the solenoids repaired? I rebuilt like you.

Re: 2007-2009 6spd GM Extends Wave Plate Coverage 10yr/120,000

It was a catch-22, dealer wanted $1000 to diagnose the problem due to the amount of work needed to get the tranny out of the vehicle. Options were to pay $5000 for a reman or take it out.

Once they took it out it was going to be $2500 total for the solenoid replacement but in the end GM gave some good will and I only paid $1100 out of pocket.

2 tranny failures at 86K miles and that was the end of our Buick ownership. Sad thing is GM offered $2k towards a new Buick but the dealership would only offer me $2k below what Carfax would give me for my Enclave so Im now in an Explorer that was cheaper than an Enclave an 21k miles in havent had 1 problem.

I have a 2008 Pontiac g6 GXP 3.6L-V6 w/Trans 6T70. I have 78,000 miles and the wave plates broke last month. I reported the issue 2 weeks ago and I am so happy to see they are finally doing something about it. I would like to see a recall however I'm not going to complain about a special warranty. So, if you have the same vehicle as mine then you are covered. I double checked my vehicle being apart of this when I logged into the Owners Center on GM's website. Under the warranty area it states all the warranties that are active and also the ones that have already expired. This is where I see my vehicle listed as a "special coverage 14404." So, I'd advise you to check into this. Good luck.
