Time To Share With The Class

I just finished up a major build up on my 1987 Camaro Z28.
Swapped out the 10 bolt 2.73 Posi drum rear for an Aussie 9 bolt 3.27 posi disk rear with the aluminum PBR calipers and 11.65 in rotors.
Suspension wise in the rear, I went with UMI non-adjustable lower control arms, thier on-the-car adjustable panhard bar, along with Eibach Pro-Kit springs and Bilstien Sport spec shocks.

Front got some of the same treatment. The brakes were upgraded to Corvette C4 HD brakes. 13 inch rotors with big 2 piston aluminum calipers replaces the wimpy 10 inch rotors and 1 pistion iron calipers. The rotors are slotted and drilled..not a huge fan of that, but it came with teh kit and the rotors are high quality not junk. I also put Bilstien struts up front with Eibach's.

I capped it off this weekend with a nice set of ZR1's with 17x9 up front and 17x11 in the rear. I have some more work on the wheels, I think ill change up the wheel adapters, but everything is working out great. Tires are BFG's KDW's up front, 275/40-17 and in the year BFG KD's 315/35-17.

Looks good. So what are you gonna use to burn them 315's up? That is a very good suspension set up you got going there. Did you do any before measuring (for G's and braking) to compare it with after?

Very nice Al. Or should I call you Proff. Al? Now that we are in class, *ding ding* can you clear up some technical jargon that I don't know?

A lot of that suspension tech is beyond me (or example, a panhard bar sounds like a place gay chefs go to unwind ).

What is a "posi" rear? Is that just another term for an LSD?

I get that you swapped drums for disks, but why don't you like cross drilled, slotted rotors? I think I heard that the are more prone to cracking, but have no idea if that is true.

Nice looking Z and with the suspension work you've done it should handle like its on rails. What changes are you planning for the TPI 350?

Also, why did you choose dark grey ZR1s for your wheels?

I'm getting sketchy on my car history, but I think that's got a 305.

You're doing New Jersey proud with that car.

I wish I had *ANY* kind of mechanical inclination. My Plymouth conked out on me, and it took me 10 minutes of fiddling with the carbs and jiggling the fuel filters, and a long-distance call to figure that I, indeed, ran out of gasoline.

The gray ZR-1s look really good, they match with your paint.

Planning on doing some mall parking lot auto-crossing?

Fuel gauge was optional in '58?

No no, it said it was empty. But, who listens to women anyway?

    Very nice

I love the 3rd gen Camaro

Why Bilstein Sports instead of Koni Yellows?

What brake pads are you using?
