    Sigh. Another accident to report.....

Photos are fresh of Mrs. Hitman's cell phone. She and our daughter are OK. They are still in Alabama and were supposed to drive up here to Alexandria in two days.

Bottom line it was her fault. She was not a phone, texting, whatever. She was pulling a U-turn in a sub-division and missed a car in her blind spot. Hit a Honda Pilot. Other person complained of hurt arms and is going to the hospital to get checked out.

Will report the details of repair, etc. as they come in.... Crap.

    Oh boy, that isn't good.

At least your folks are okay. How the hell can the other person have an injury from that?

Don't know how old she is.

Wargaming scenarios of how to get family and vehicle up here. Most likely course of action is they drive up in a rental and I fly down to Huntsville in a month or so to get it from Bentley Buick-GMC's great bodyshop that restored my G8 GT last fall. Damn.

We are so married to these vehicles now til they fall apart.

That sucks. Glad your family is okay, though. Seems like the Lamda's are one safe vehicle. Hopefully they're not too hard to fix.

My calibrated eye guesstimate is about a $4k claim. Minus our $500 deductible of course.

    Bummer.....

Have you considered getting the tire fixed and limping it home?

How did she get hit in the right front fender pulling a Uewy!?

Hope you get it straightened out. I think the $4,000 estimate seems a little high, personally, but I could be absolutely wrong. My parents hit a deer in our Blazer and did a **** ton more damage than that and it cost less to fix, but I know there's a lot of variables.

    Good luck with everything.

I wouldn't want to do that. You don't know what it could have bent in the suspension, if it hit the wheel. Driving wrecked vehicles, no matter how little they appear to be wrecked, is always sort of risky.

In the unlikely event it ends up being totaled due to unseen frame damage pay off would just about equal owed balance and we have gap insurance too. Hope that is not the case.

Sorry about your misfortunes, but at least everyone is ok and the damage doesn't look too bad. $4000 seems about right with labour and they will have to probably paint the whole side of the people to color match.

Not if you use one of their "recommended" garages. Made that mistake while back in Michigan getting my Tiburon fixed after it was vandalized. USAA gave me the run around that the turn around time is so much faster because they don't need to have an appraiser come out. Idiots put my rear windshield wiper blade on in the opposite position and when I went to go turn on my car to get the snow off..... scratchhhhh, there went my new paint job. Wasted a week of a ten day vacation on that mess. By the time I got somebody to buy the car (a year later) the paint had already started to peal. Also at that time the paint shop had went out of business.

Should have used my uncle at Highland Road Collision off M-59. But USAA said it would be better if I didn't. They should have refunded my deductible for all the BS I had to go through getting my car done through their people.

I love USAA's customer service, but that is all they have going for them right now. I started up a premium saving plan with them and only get .20% APY. I can get over 1% through several other banks without a high minimum deposit.
