Great choices on the truck, including the color and the aftermarket parts.

Thank you very much everyone! If you ever have anyone looking for steps; this company is the one that makes it for them. I bought mine for about half of what the dealer sells. The only drawback is the foot pad does not say GM. www.runningboardwarehouse.com

    My New Sierra

I finally got my shell, steps and grilles installed. Pretty happy so far. Would like to raise the front to level it off.

    Re: My New Sierra

The new trucks have coil springs for the front suspension. For the last generation of trucks, leveling was usually accomplished by tightening the torsion bars, effectively adding pressure to them. For the new ones I think it's going to come down to adding spacers, which should effectively be the same as having the upper spring mounts lower in the vehicle, and leaving the springs themselves alone, along with the ride.

It'll be interesting to hear someone who specializes in suspensions give the right answer though. I'm not an expert or even an amateur in this knowledge area, and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.

I don't know. I heard the torsion bars tightening would make a tougher ride. Not sure what the coil over shock leveling would do to it. I think shadams is getting it done to his truck- ask him.

What is the need for leveling off? Is it from the weight you added, or is this just to alter the stock look? Is it 2WD or 4WD?

Many times this effects camber and caster, and altering will cause increased tire wear.

    Re: My New Sierra

I've installed 6 or 7 TRUXX brand leveling kits on the GMT900s. While it does make it a little more harsh over speed bumps and such it isn't really that bad, especially on the road. If I had one I would definitely install a leveling kit as my first upgrade/mod. It's a fairly inexpensive mod that really changes the whole look othe truck. Best part about the TRUXX kit is that you can select the size it lifts the front by not putting in all the spacers. I always put them all in and haven't had anyone complain yet althoughit sets the front end up a little higher then the rear.

    I say go for it!

Be sure to aim the headlights and have an alignment done as it will throw off the toe measurement.

    Re: My New Sierra

It is a 2 wheel drive.

    A. I want to raise the front to level off the truck
    B. My 22" wheels keep rubbing when I turn hard left or right with my mudflaps on it.

I am just really concerned about the ride changing. I found a company on Ebay that sells these 2.5" spacers and they state no change in ride quality. I called them and they swear by them.

I will have to do a re alignment and adjust the headlights.

It took 3 months to get the shell I wanted built and installed. Put in the upper and lower grille and side steps.
Still considering raising the front 2.5"s to level it off.
