    Talking PICS>>> Just bought a 1985 Fiero GT 2M6

I couldn't figure out how to change the title of the other thread, so I just created a new thread with the pictures.
Here is the link to the original thread:

Nice.. I have always wanted to play with one of these. I would go with the turbo Ecotec. Sort of a pre history to the Solstice/Sky thing.

A turbo Ecotec would probably be the best trackable/streetable combination as it shifts the back-heavy weight dist. away from the rear, and would be relatively easy to tune. The only hurdle that would really hinder an Ecotec swap would be the massive amounts of work required to wire the thing up. The harness alone would take quite a long time to get right, but shall see if it would be worth it

Yep, Turbo Ecotec for sure. Fiero was one of my fave matchbox cars as a kid. It got buried in a mates backyard and I searched in the dirt for hours, but to no avail.

i know this thread is old, but i'm looking at a similar swap. i like the low weight and easy power of the ecotecs.

i'd take the 3500 hv v6 over a 3.4L - the aluminum heads drop some weight and 250 hp will make the fiero move like an lt5 vette!

for pure sound quality a v8 is hard to beat, and the ls4 is lighter than the 3800 sc. the f40 6 speed is popular.

Just saw this. Man those pics of a Fiero bring back memories. So many of my friends had those cars and loved them. So many were disappointed when GM canceled the car, just after they got it right. Sigh.

A turbo Ecotec in a Fiero would be awesome.

    3SGTE (2.0 Turbo) Toyota MR-2 engine! Sorry I couldn't resist!

    Turbo Ecotec would be nice.

L67 or L32, putting 400 hp to the wheels

hell I wouldn't mind one with just a 2.2L. While it wouldn't be much of a performance engine it certainly wouldn't be slow and I would imagine mileage would beat a Cobalt

There is one that drives around here sometimes, I saw it at a gas station one time and I was talking to the guy and he had a small block 350 in it, damn thing sounded like a funny car idling.

I unfortunately found the Dodge Caravan that it had been "cruising" with.

    We need an update JT.

Not sure how I missed this thread... awesome car man! I had a red 2M4 like your roomates... I assume it's still sitting in my friends field back in Ontario with weeds growing up through it! Can't wait to see some pics of it cleaned up!

    Re: PICS>>> Just bought a 1985 Fiero GT 2M6

I 'gave' the car to my roommate (who formerly had the red car in the garage), as he moved away for an internship. He will be doing a pair of swaps, an L67/5speed (almost done, little quirks that I may have to head down to help him out with; going into an 87GT fastback), and a daily/winter/economy driver (still in the planning stages, going into this car). I hope to get some pictures of the cars cleaned up, but my old roommate isn't exactly one for the cleanliness! (as seen by the garage pic)

It was definitely a very cool car to drive. It didn't do anything particularly great, but did many things decently well. The suspension wasn't great, the power was far from overpowering, the brakes weren't top notch, and the frames were horrid for rust, but sitting that low to the ground in a little rattle machine, with the engine running right behind your head (you could hear the intake if you listened hard enough).

Sadly, as before, the car is no longer in my hands... If I do get another Fiero though, it will be an 88 track car... Until then, I'm going to shop around for a few cars (deciding between a 4th gen SS/WS6/Firehawk, an 05/06 GTO, or an 05/06 CTS-V)

An LS1 would more than fit the bill...
