Our 2009 G8 GT - Stryker Blue Metallic

sorry, I don't come around here much, but wanted to show off our new purchase!

My fiancee and I picked up our 2009 Pontiac G8 GT on November 22nd 2008. Bought it from Todd Wenzel Buick Pontiac GMC in Grand Rapids Michigan. This is the only one in the GR area that had the options we wanted. The dealer added racing stripes to it that are color matched to the factory 19s. Eddie Fischer at Todd Wenzel really took care of us and really went above and beyond for us. As a first time new car buyer, as well as a first time buyer in Grand Rapids, I'd really recommend talking to him about a new car. Heck, I even stopped in this morning to ask the service writers a few questions. Eddie was there, greeted me right away, and had the car washed at no cost to me.

2 days after we bought the car, Grand Rapids got it's first substantial snowfall of the year, and we've had snow on the ground ever since. I added a set of Pulse 17" wheels with cooper weathermaster snow tires (225/55/17) from belle tire. Because the car didn't come with a factory nav unit, I added the Garmin Nuvi 260 to the cubby hole next to the 12v power jack. We also had the windows tinted at the tint factory in Grand Rapids for $160 (lifetime warranty)

so i guess i should get on with the pics then....

nope, but again not a huge selling point.

we sat in the car 1 year ago at the NAIAS and decided it was our next car. the V8 and snow tires have done AMAZING this year in the snow.

and personally, i don't use the nav a lot, but my fiancee gets lost sometimes.

Very cool! I'm not a big fan of the stripes, though.

Ah, I see. I figured it didn't as they just started getting Bluetooth during the October production run.

I'm going to try to get one with Bluetooth as I'm a techy so I was curious to find out if caller ID works and where it displays it.

I didn't even notice the racing stripes! I like those a lot!

i've managed 21 on the highway, but i think that was without AFM. someone on one of the G8 boards said that AFM doesn't kick in under 32*. the only way to tell if AFM is on is if you start the car in engineering mode (click the left thumbstick on the steering wheel as you start it)
i think our car was a august/september build. the dealer had it in the showroom (locked) since the middle of september. we drove it off the showroom floor.

Nice ride. That's my favorite G8 color. So how is the car in the snow?

absolutely awesome. i feel safer driving this car with a V8, RWD and snow tires than i do driving my grand prix with a blown V6, FWD and all season tires. it's gotta be the 50/50 weight distribution.

    Congrats!

No doubt a "driver" feels better driving a RWD in the snow. It's the novice people who operate cars to get from point A to point B that prefer FWD. FWD does seem to offer more traction...but RWD offers a type of control that is hard to explain in the snow.

But the ultimate cheating is 4wd or AWD!

    Great G8!
