New 2012 Chevrolet Impala LTZ... I like it alot but have a few questions...

Time to see the USA in a another new Chevrolet!

After eleven years of faithful service and over 121,000 worry free miles I traded in my 2001 Chevrolet Impala Sedan. I would have to say aside of the head gasket on the 3400 it has been one of the best cars I have ever had the pleasure of owning. But after thinking about a new 2012 Impala for several months and a family member having good luck with a 2008 LTZ I finally pulled the trigger. My dealer was excellent! They found the exact car I wanted a 2012 Impala LTZ in Summit White with the Neutral/Ebony interior and no sunroof. I must say I very impressed with what GM has done with the W-platform. The work the GM Racing team did to the ride/handling is impressive and it shows! The new LFX and six speed automatic are smooth, and drives like a much more expensive car than a Chevrolet. The overall driving experience proves it is certainly no sports sedan but with the FE3 suspension it proves to be a very responsive family sedan. The car doesn't jump off the line like my two 3800 powered G/W-Platform cars do, but it is willing to rev up quickly unlike my 3400 and 3800 powered cars. The trunk space in phenomenal! The interior is roomy overall although the rear seat feels tighter than my 2005, which is a little bit of a bummer. With the exception of the rear seats it is a much improved car from the 2000-2005 models and even 2006-2011 models. I am looking forward to many worry free happy miles. If it treats me as well as my 1990 Grand Prix and my 2001 Impala did I will be very pleased.

I promise I will get a couple photographs posted when I have some free time!

I do however have a few things that I am wondering about...

1.) Why do the gauges sweep down and back up after a door opens/closes? Is that because the odometer displays just like in the Torrent? (The gauges do not move however...)

2.) When I turn the vehicle to ON or ACC and do not turn the vehicle over (start the engine) I hear a silent high pitched ringing or buzzing noise... Is that something with all the new electrical gadgets or the security system and is it suppose to happen?

Any feedback or comments on those two issues would be helpful! Thanks in advance and to everyone who gave me advise late last fall!

    Probably the fuel pump priming.

1.) Maybe it's the electricity shutoff?

2.) Sounds like the fuel pump priming since it's a DI engine.

Congrats on the purchase and don't be scared to post some pictures!

Thanks for the information. However I do not think its the fuel pump, it sounds more like an electronic thing. It really almost reminds of a high pitched ringing in me ear. But anyways maybe your right I just have not heard this type of sound with any of my other GM cars. Anyways thanks for the information!

Thank you! Don't worry I will. (Post a few photos that is!) I think a fuel pump will prim in under 60 seconds, correct? I am betting it is number one. BTW what is exactly in electricity shutoff?

My gauges will do the same thing as yours if I turned to car off and let the battery do the work. It cuts power to mine, so I think it sort of twitches because of that.

Thanks again! That explains the gauges! As for the high pitched ring I will have to ask my dealer, it just doesn't sound like its coming from the motor bay.

The fuel pump is in the gas tank unless DIs do it differently.

Congrats. Looking forward to driving a 2012 when I get the chance to feel the changes for myself. You will also continue to enjoy no issue in the parts department with so many of them on the road.

Only 40K G8s in the states concerns me.

I'd bet some cash your 2012 would waste a 3800 in any speed contest (off the line, passing--whatever) Other then that--glad you like it--but I really can't add anything else.

It would waste any Impala, sans the SS in a race. The LFX does wonders for the Impala, and I could only dream of what it could have done in the Malibu.
