    Talking My new GINETTA!!

Yesterday I collected my father's old G12 from it's falling-down prefab garage. I'm so pleased! I can't wait for the sun to come out, because then I'll be giving it all the attention it deserves....

Not 'mine' btw - just very similar and in better condition.....I promise I'll try and get some pictures of it on it's trailer IF it stops sheeting down with rain here. Though we had a light snow last night, so I'm not to hopeful.....

I don't think I would fit my 6'1 body inside of one of these...

Wait a moment, isn't that a 2-Litre in the background?

    Re: My new GINETTA!!

I will do, thanks! And cheers for the compliments!

I need to give it a good dusting down because it's in OK condition just a bit neglected - read it's paerfect but not been cleaned for a while.

    Planning:

    New stainless exhaust
Those wheels in the piccy above
An engine upgrade to make it feel 'rip-yer-face-off-even-more'
    New brakes, pads and callipers
    New racing seats
Respray, maybe in McLaren orange or possibly in a light blue/silver if it's going road-legal.

Colour suggestions welcome - race or road...

Yeah - technically it is (06/06 plate) but I really wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes find a way around that. The excuse may well be that I've thrashed the car, in which case I'm going to give it all I've got and won't give up until either a) E280 no.1 gets fixed free of charge or b) they give me a new car.

Btw, some twunt managed to loose the roof lining on Monday when I checked in to see what the situation was. I mean, roof lining for an E-class T-Modell is about 4.5 metres long and at least a metre wide, how $*&@&!^? stupid do you have to be to misplace it?!!

I really, really, really hate my Merc now. Those Monaros on Autotrader look a very tempting temporary solution!

Congrats on the Ginetta Tom. It looks like a prime candidate for Gulf Oil Colours!

P.S. Any info on Powerplant/tranny? I know diddly about Ginnetas.

Yeah, going to see a silver 5.7 VXR Monaro on Friday - can't wait!

Thanks for the suggestion mikmak - hadn't thought of that before.

IIRC the G12 is powered by a Cosworth YAC engine producing 190bhp, weighing around 600 kilos. Though I suspect 30 years in a garage may have taken it's toll - make that 100bhp, still going to be very fun doing it up/driving it though!!

    Re: My new GINETTA!!

Quite serious -the Merc problems aren't getting any better so I'm probably going to get rid of it asap - leaving me with a gap for a car to go to work in, cruise in, go on holiday in etc. I'd love it if you could find out for me and then pm the results!

I emphasise again it might only be in my hands for as little as 6 months though, because though I really want one I think I'll actually need something better overall in the long run (think deposit on E92 M3/VXR8/997S). But better to have a big, comfy cruiser for six months (more likely a year at the least to be honest) than to rack up precious miles in a small hatchback for more than a year (I do 35-45k miles each year, depending), and there's precious few cars I'd rather do that in than a Monaro with stonking V8.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the test drive and if you could PM me any 'beasts' for sale that'd be great.
