Smile My new car! (+ pics!)

It's a 2006 Vauxhall (not Holden you planks! ) Monaro VXR.

It's the 6.0 so it's the later model with ''nostrils''. It has the aforementioned 6.0 V8 producing 404bhp and powering the beast to 180mph+

It still has two years warranty left (!!) and it was a complete bargain - £27,750. That won't mean much but it's very very very very good value to you Americans!

Nothing else to say except I'm extremely pleased with it, it has attracted a lot of positive looks/comments and even my 95-year-old grandfather likes it!!

Picked it up last Wednesday and have since taken some pics of it, the first ones actually!! Enjoy..

    And it's definitely a Holde....Vauxhall!

What other options do you have for little under 30k pounds?

    Isnt 1GBP = 1.5USD?

Try getting that thing inside the City of London. You will be deemed an enemy of the state. (Unless you pack the trunk with explosives, in which case everyone will ask what they did to you to make you feel the need to be antisocial.)

Thanks you lot! - glad you like it as much as I'm enjoying it!!

Observations so far - it's extrememly fast (like neck-breakingly fast!) and it makes a wonderful wonderful wonderful noise when you give it the berries.

Taking off the 17.5% (well, 20% to make it easier) and then converting it into $ that makes it around the $43k mark.

beezlebub - for something quite unsual but also with a turn of pace and under 30k the Monaro is pretty much the only choice here. Though at points I did consider:

    Audi A8 3.0d
    E46 BMW M3
    Nissan 350Z
    Nissan Murano
    Corvette C6
    Cadillac XLR

How does it rate against your (ex) C6? Congratulations (I was going to call you lucky *******! but considering your line of work, I know you worked hard for it ) That is an awesome car.

Re: My new car! (+ pics!)

Freaky how fast this got down the list of threads..

I like it much more than the C6 Corvette I had, it's just far better in every respect:

    - more usable power due to the superior handling of the Monaro
    - better looks; the C6 was pretty but this is very very nice; love the aggression in it.
    - better packaging; it has a boot and four proper seats
    - better quality; nothing creaks or has broken like it did in the Corvette
    - it also attracts less 'bloody tasteless git' looks than the C6 did; it's much more of a car enthusiasts motor, it attracts the envious glance from everyone but also a smile.

I won't start on the performance - pressing the accelerator into the carpet is like receiving a rifle butt to the back of the head; woooomph and before you know it you're waaaay over the speed limit.

It's also a very good family car - the big boot, reasonable fuel economy (21 mpg), and four big armchairs are all great additions to what is essentially a bigger, better, more rounded Corvette.

The frustrating thing is that the GTO brought to the US needed only a few tasteful styling tweaks to look this good.

But even if the exterior was totally nondescript in every way, you didn't buy it to sit in a lawn chair and stare at it all day. Enjoy the comfort, the nice looking interior, and the "boot to the head" power. I'm jealous.

The USA bound "GTO" needed those rear spoilers and lower body extensions like you have. Couple that with the SLP recessed Pontiac grilles and it may have been a winner here. Damn GM with their copy and paste attitude.

Haha you SOOO got hosed! Talk about quality control... they got the steering wheel on the wrong side! Sucker!

Okay, assuming you can get used to that, great car man! I've never seen a nose like that... I love how sharp it looks down low and to the sidesm around the air dam and foglights. Let me know if you ever take a rip down the A1 on the other side of the channel!

I've always liked the looks of the Vauxhall version. I wish the GTO would have looked more like it in the front. I just love the angry look of it.
