    My latest GM!

    I'm back in the extended family of current GM owners. I've had it for a few days, actually. Some of you asked for pics so here are a handful.

    1995 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado. 6.5 turbodiesel.

    I absolutely love this truck. Much more comfy than my Ford (which has a bench seat and noisy exhaust)... and I am actually warming up to the slushbox. I appreciate having my right hand to hold the drink I'm sipping (in my other vehicles, shifting gears with a drink sometimes produced spillings), or the snack I'm eating, or my cellphone, etc.

    P.S. That tan/beige/brownish color is my favorite GM color ever, so I was really glad when I found out which color the truck was.

    P.S. #2 Just FYI, the strange non-dirty rectangle on the doors = the previous owner's magnetic company stickers (which he removed when I picked up the vehicle).

    I thought you photoshoped something out. Nothing like buying a new ride, and then having to clean it up yourself.

    I hope it last you many miles.

    Well, that rectangle on my passenger door sure is clean and tidy, yes. The rest of the truck... not so much.

    (out of curiosity, what did you mean exactly? I guarantee I won't be offended!)

    Re: My latest GM!

    My good, old, not-so-trusty WVO setup (which I kept when I sold my old Golf) is ready to be installed on that rig. Probably this coming weekend. The little tank (made from an empty five gallon) is Golf-sized, not GMT400-sized, but I think it'll do for now. I'll just fill up often.

    I'm also going to have to show you guys pics of the trailer

    Here's the Golf trunk (pic from a couple years ago). Easy fit in the Silverado... and I'll even have leftover cargo capacity.

    That 6.5 TD is rare down in my parts and in other locales I'm sure......hopefully you got a good deal on yours!
    When you turn your car on....does it return the favor?

    6.5 TD = not that rare
    6.5 TD in a short box 1500 = rare
    6.5 TD in a short box 1500 Silverado Z71 fully loaded 1995-1998 (for the much nicer interior) = quite rare

    all of the above in that color = well, I'd say very very rare.

    Those were my dream trucks as a little kid. Big'ol Chevy diesel, preferably dually and a crew cab (at that age, the biggest thing I could find next to a Tonka truck was cool).

    Perhaps I should have noted that your neighborhood, rather than all of Canada, is very neat, clean, and tidy.

    Waste Vegetable Oil. Diesels will run on free, used cooking oil after a bit of filtration.

    Great find, lio45! The illusive GMT-400 K1500 ECSB Z71 is one of my dream trucks! My dad's '94 Suburban was the same color (Light Autumnwood) and I always liked it, especially when it had the polished billet wheels on it.

    I thought you had given up WVO forever?

    I never said "forever".

    I just said that the hassle of gathering/filtering oil wasn't worth it...... back then.

    Now, a few things are different.

    1) I need a truck way more than I used to, so as of late I found myself using that gas hog F150 pretty often;

    2) My amateur mechanic longtime buddy, who, in his free time, relentlessly kept working on a way to make gathering/filtering more efficient and automated, has just shown me his "completed" gathering trailer (it's going to be a breeze now);

    3) The same guy has just informed me his new sister in law is working at the main cafeteria of our city's largest university (10,000+ students). They make a lot of fries. She's giving us all the oil we want;

    4) Gas is (proportionally) way more expensive than it was back when I decided to trade my Golf for a Civic.

    BTW, thanks for the official color name...

    FWIW, if you like them that much, and are serious about running on WVO... stop looking for a Benz and set your sights on a diesel GMT400! They ought to be plentiful in Texas... if not by %, at least by sheer number (since there are so many trucks on the roads).
