    My first new car

I've been in the car buisiness since I was 20 years old. I've been fortunate to work around some of the greatest cars ever made.

For the last 15 years, the only automobile I ever owned was a 1986.5 Nissan Hardbody truck, and a pre-owned 2001 Tahoe my wife and I bought when we first got married. We still own both vehicles, but there was just something missing. I've never owned a new car.

After months of research, we decided to buy a sports car. After narrowing the field to two autos, I spoke to the owner of my store and ordered my first new ride, a 2008 Corvette.

I ordered the car in November 2007, and it arrived February 26, 2008.

The car was ordered as a 2LT, with dual mode exhaust, two tops, polished aluminum wheels, with the six speed automatic w/paddle shift. Thanks to the guys and girls at Bowling Green and to GM for building such a great car. We've enjoyed putting 2700 miles on it so far.

    Here she is:

Ohhhhh, that's not fair! I'm jealous. I've been a Corvette fan since way before I could drive, well, some people argue I still can't drive, but anyway, congrats on your buy, glad you're still happy with her!

No, not my bird. The aircraft pictured is a '67 Cessna Centurion (Cessna 210) that was in town on July 4th. The dealership I work for is across the street from the airport I fly out of, and I just happen to drive the whip that day. I was over at the hangar after work, and decided to shoot a few pictures.

Here's picture of my old bird. '75 Cessna 152. It was sold in February 2006.

Sorry, I don't have any on my computer. The car has Ebony Leather guts. I'll dig some up onm my PC when I get home and post for you.

I'm going to eventually replace the factory head unit with an Alpine touchscreen, but I'm on a spending freeze right now.

    Avro?

    As in Avro Vulcan?

No Vette rentals here in the midwest, but that would be a sweet rental! A friend of mine rented a Ferrari in Vegas for $500. Absolutley insane!

It seems I always get stuck with foreign rental cars on vacation.

It would be pretty sweet to actually see your new car roll off the truck. Nice. The current Corvette is the only one I've really thought looked good since the 1982 model.

No wonder you drove a truck for 15 years. Did you notice that you could get a 'Vette once the Cessna was gone?

As for your car: Big F, loooong AAAARrrk.

That's a nice piece of kit. Congrats.

It's by far the best Corvette I've seen in my fifteen years in the car business. Most of my family that have been for a ride with me rave about how the car rides. My dad owned an '82 (C-3) as well. That car seemed as if it would beat you to death. It was an L-82 and would get with it!

This car is very impressive in many aspects. It definitely has a lot of bang for the buck.

    Thanks!

I haven't drove the truck since 1997. I bought the old truck for $4000 with money from mowing lawns in the summer when I was 16. I'll eventually restore it back to good working order as time permits.

What's crazy is I could have bought two C-152's for what the car cost! I'll eventually buy another airplane, but I'm just on a spending freeze until the economy bounces back here. Flying is getting expensive, as AvGas is still in the $5.40 USD range here. It's cheaper to go commerical right now.
