Here is am interior shot. These cloth seats are murder to keep clean and as you can see need it again. I also took an engine shot. The car has 166,000 miles on it and runs exellent. All the numbers match as well. As far as I can tell it has never had a rebuild and has had synthetic oil in it for at least the last 10 years. When you pull the valve covers off, everything looks new underneath and it does not use any oil.

This is proof that Detroit automobiles need not be regarded as disposable. With some TLC, common sense care, and maintenance when it is needed, most vehicles can last for decades. If the average driver took care of his ride the way a pilot cares for his aircraft the new car market would be a shadow of what it is. But people want something new every few years I guess. I understand that, I trade every 4-5 years. One day when I buy my dream ride though it will be the last car I buy, and I'll take it to the bone yard with me. I envy you this Monte Carlo. I have nothing but good feelings for these cars.

Re: My 71 Monte Carlo all cleaned up :)

That is one great looking Monte Carlo! That year is one of my all-time favorites for sure. I've owned a few Monte Carlos and have great admiration for them. Like others have said, hold on to it - it may increase in value over time, as the collector market is sometimes slow to catch on to certain vehicles. Just look at the 1963-1965 Buick Riviera - - those are finally catching on and are increasing in value. Thanks for sharing.

Holy cow ... no kidding. Even more interesting ... by 1974, the MC was already in the second year of the 2nd generation ... a much different car and front end than that! lol

Micah! I received your Email and replied to you. Pictures are definitely worth the wait ... very nice '71 MC you have!!!

I guess it depends on whether or not you feel your experience with the car is complete and it's time to move on. But if I had a car that cool, I'd keep it.

    Nice!

I've always had a thing for early Monte Carlos. They had a certain elegance to them.

Beautiful car, Micah. If you can find a way to keep it, then in my opinion you should.

That car is SUPERB! Keep that bad boy...you would kick yourself if you sold it. Especially since not only does it look good it is also in great mechanical shape. I love to see the old rides on the road!
