Joaquin gets a facelift... and a new playmate!

Here's Joaquin, with his new fender, fog lights and one-piece headlights...

    And Joaquin's new playmate ...

...Sorry the pics are skimpy... the camera died on me.

Shhhh... you guys have to keep this a secret.... but my son's getting a surprise late-21st birthday present! (I'm keeping Joaquin, btw! He's been by my side too long to just let go)

That's my dip**** cousin's place in Gonzales. We're hiding the car there till my son comes home for Spring Break. I don't wanna leave it parked curbside here in Tremé (yes, I live in Tremé).

    Great gift.

Didn't know there was another Baton Rougeon here, Jmlee.

And since when did you live in Tremé, Rex?

We sold the Octavia Street crib last month. I, erm, well... maybe in pvt I'll discuss the issue with it. We took a real beating on it. Good riddance though. Though I am having a bit of a crisis of conscience...

Right now we're staying in my "flagship" rental unit (I've got a few scattered throughout Tremé, Irish Channel, Bywater) in Tremé until we can find a house we like. I'm considering looking for something blighted in a nice area to tear down and maybe design and build our own house. Obviously I've got instant access to a list of condemned properties, but none are quite where I want to be.

I really wish I could stay within walking distance of Newman, so I could walk the kiddies home from school in the afternoons, but we can't find anything nearby that we like. Plus I'd really like to stay within reasonable walking distance of Audubon Park, since we spend a lot of time there.

Oh and don't be fooled! jmlee is PURE METRY, HUN! He's one of the unfortunate displaced to the Red Stick.

    YAT POWER!

Let's just hope T-Rex's family doesn't read GMi...wouldn't be that hard to figure out that daddy's online now that he's posting pics of his ride.

That would go with the rest of the upper 9th .....

Most of those cribs in that area don't even have driveways.

If you knew how dirt-cheap I picked it up for, you'd realize I didn't care if it was automatic or stick!

I feel so guilty though... benefitting from someone else's misfortune.

Now we've got to unload the Jetta... 100,000 trouble-free miles, then it starts disintegrating.

Maybe I can unload it on the same suckers who bought that, erm, "inhabited" house we just sold!

This is New Orleans. That's "coib" feelas... !

Well, I'd already let the cat out of the bag mentioning that I was thinking about picking up that '05 BMW, so I couldn't go without letting my GMI peeps see a little glimpse of the new toy. Heck I didn't even decide whether or not I was keeping it, or giving it to junior, until I was driving it to my cuz's crib. Who knows? I'm fickle. I might keep it keep let junior inherit Joaquin. Even though Joaquin's my baby, the first car I ever paid for myself, my buddy, my pal, who saw me through thick and thin...

But, erm, some of you may have noticed that I no longer post pics of my kids, or our home, or any aspect of our private life.

Frankly, I'm not afraid to, because there's not a psycho out there that I can't handle. But I have to respect the wishes of my better half, and keep our family life private. She doesn't mind me talking about the kids (she's a bit of a braggart herself about our young'uns!) but I've been given a strict edict of no more personal info. THAT'S why you guys haven't seen pics of her new Jag... she threatened my life just for letting you guys know she picked it up!.

The BMW's my project though, not hers, so she couldn't care less if I posted pics.

I know, I know... I can't figure women out either!

So are you going to paint the rear wheels on both BMWs that shadow gray color? It looks cool...

...Oh wait, that's just brake dust.

Both cars look really nice. I'm sure your son would be thrilled with either car. There's just something special about how a 3-Series drives.

Lakeview? EWWWWWWWWW. That's like living in Metairie! I'm a Uptown boy! I joke, but before Katrina I lived in Mirabeau Gardens along the canal, and you know how bad that area got hit when the London Ave Canal failed. My crib was toast.

You ain't been to Tremé lately have you? There's still rough spots, especially Marais Street, but it's moving up, and moving up quickly! I've got 9 properties in Tremé now, all resto jobs. A former partner of mine just sold a reno'd double on N. Robertson for $389k, and he's got six more units under renovation in Tremé! That's how we're rebuilding New Orleans... one block at a time!
