Got a tricked out 81 Wagoneer!

Ebay score...Just a tricked out 1981 Jeep Wagoneer with 360 V8, 727 automatic transmission, 208 transfer case, Dana 44 front differential, AMC 20 rear, Edelbrock Performer Intake, Holley 4 barrel truck avenger carb, 4 inch lift, drop pitman arm, stainless braided brake lines, bigger shocks and stabilizer, and a locker in the rear, all ridiing on 32" mud king tires. I just wish I had it right NOW since there are tons of snow here! It is in Nebraska...can't wait to get it here to Maryland! This thing is a BEAST!

I've always loved those. I saw a really nice Cherokee Chief this week, they look good in 2 and 4 doors.

Wow, dude, that's awesome! It's HUGE! Love the anti-aerodynamic nose on that! Hahaha! Do you plan to restore it, or is it just to enjoy as it is? Either way, love it! Too cool!

Re: Got a tricked out 81 Wagoneer!

Ain't it the truth! It has the aerodynamic properties of a brick! It'll just be as is for now. Thinking I may do some 4 wheeling this summer. Plus we'll use it for hauling stuff, etc. Eventually I may add some things or do some fixing up, but not right now.

Any restoration dollars that I manage to scrape up for the moment are going into the AMX...working on the interior this year...hoping to get it looking good by fall (although I am sure it will take longer than that).

Re: Got a tricked out 81 Wagoneer!

Thanks! I got the bug from my Dad...the Old Man has an early 50s Hudson Hornet, a 48 De Soto (the car I learned to drive on..."Fluid-Drive"...a clutch that you could not stall, essentially), a 50 Dodge, a 53 MG TD, a 70 Javelin, and a couple others that are his and his wife's commuters. But he got the bug from his dad...every time we go to an old car show, he says "grandpa had one of those, and grandpa had one of those..." I guess the tell-tale sign is the number of happy hours I spent with my Dad in junkyards as a kid looking at wrecked Detroit Iron and dreaming about what I would own some day when I got older...

The AMX I have I pulled out of a junkyard about 15 years ago...Its a real beauty, but still a work in progress. I have brought it back to life over the years, and now it runs very strong and all the mechanicals re pretty much done. 401 cubic inch, 6.6 liter V-8...hehehehehehehehehe (evil laughter)...but we are into the heavy bodywork now...got the rear quarters done but its going to be a little while before the bodywork is all done. And then the "forever paint job" will happen. And of course the aforementioned interior work I'm doing this year. Once the AMX is done, I have a project in the pipeline but that is a few years off...

I always liked those, but it is so weird to see one without the fake wood on the sides
