    darndot's new camper

No G8 is in my future for awhile.
I just bought a new 2007 Starwood LE. It has been sitting in the dealer lot, and he made me a deal I could refuse. I also get to take the sale tax off my taxes. It was the time to buy one for us.

We had a Coleman Pop-up. My wife wanted a bathroom and shower for my daughter. Our Pop-up was twelve years old and was starting to show it age. It was kind of sad to see it go. I had it sold within a day of posting it on Craigslist.

    Here is the new one.

That is truly an upgrade from your old camper.
Congrats on the purchase. Dont worry bout the G8. You will get one someday.

Very nice. Just out of curiosity, what's a used pop-up worth?

Blue book for a Average Coleman like ours was $1,900. I think I could have gotten $2,800 if I had sat on it for a while. I sold it for $2,200 with no haggling. It had a few issues that I let the new owners know about, and felt good about selling it at that price.

A G8 may still be in our future, but not this year. We were going to wait to buy a camper next spring, but things just fell together.

I wouldn't make a good mod. I am too level headed.

That's not bad, but I don't know that I would use it more than once a year. Maybe I'll rent one first.

I used to be too. But I just can't sleep on hard ground anymore. Plus I've got to have MY pillow or my neck will hurt for days.

I think anything is nice if it means getting away from everyone in the city.

^Very true. I'm not out to impress anyone, I just want to get out more. The pop-ups seem like very little hassle.

Congrats! We miss our travel trailer for sure. We let ours go to more easily afford our new house. I hope you and your family get many years of enjoyment out of it.

Check out RV.net, if you aren't already a member. I learned a lot about travel trailers, tow vehicles, and general RV'ing there.

    Re: darndot's new camper

We use to be the tent people. It would always rain. There is a progression. Tent>PopUP>Travel Trailer> Fifth Wheel or Motor Home.

It use to take about hour of work to get out campsite setup. With the new one it was about thirty minutes. Having a place for my daughter to take a bath is a plus.

What is crazy is I live out in the country. Besides my parents, my nearest full time neighbor is over 1/2 mile away. Going camping means being near people. I have a better chance of seeing wildlife in my backyard.

Yeah, it always rains on us. So we bought a Alaska Series tent from Cabela's. That thing could withstand a tornado.

That's why you get air mattresses!

I have a Cabela's dome tent, I think it is a Alaska Series if I remember right. It is one heck of a tent. You could place it in standing water and not get wet inside. We bought it a few years before we moved to a pop up.

I am a wuss and I like Air Conditioning, and not having to unpack the camper. My wife is happier in a camper than a tent. The best reason to move up.
