    Cars we used to own

I couldn't find the thread for cars a person used to own, maybe there wasn't one. So if this is the place, I'm starting one here, pics and all as back up so I aint lyin'.

I left out a 69 Caprice, Mazda 323, SHO (couldn't find pics) an F250, 2 Jeep GC's, a Hyundai, both current model Taurus' (one's gone anyway) and the Z71. I had all these before I was 25, most before I was 19-20. Then you get married and it all stops. Someday the kids will move out, the house will be paid for, and I still won't be able to afford anything but I will still be dreaming.

I am not even 20 yet so I have only had 2 cars...

1st was a 1986 Buick LeSabre that I borrowed from my parents. We still have it, it's sitting in the garage at home.

My second, is a 2006 Saturn Vue that is all mine. My parents bought it for me to go to college in.

Re: Cars we used to own

    i owned a 1996 chevy cheyenne k1500 4x4 EC LB 5.0 the thing was a beast....

only things not stock are the pushbar, bigger tires (305/70/16), wheels, upgraded shocks, and the girl in the bed.

that is, until i did this....

yeah, lets just say that was bad. i fixed it but it was never the same, so i got what i could for it, saved up, and bought my new (for me) truck:

its a 2005 chevy silverado z-71 EC LB. this was taken before ive done a little work, i lifted the front and put on 285/70/17 tires, but thats it so far. i have plans though.

Re: Cars we used to own

My favorite former car is an '88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe. It looked like this one:

It had a 2.3 4-banger making 190hp/240tq at 15 psi of boost (I bumped it up to 18). It had a 5-speed manual, electronically-controlled suspension that firmed up the shocks when you drove hard, standard ABS & 4-wheel disc brakes, automatic headlights AND highbeams, a "regular/premium" fuel selector switch, and a bunch of other cool stuff. Keep in mind this was almost 20 years ago!

Ford used the BMW 635csi as a benchmark. The Turbo Coupe ended up being superior in acceleration, braking, and cornering, and it didn't cost much more than a regular Thunderbird.

Why in the hell can't Ford make cars like that anymore?!

Re: Cars we used to own

30+ years = 30+ cars. I've had more cars than years alive. There are way too many to even consider pictures.

    1) 1977 Chevy Nova (1st GM product)
    2) 1968 Volvo 144 (Uncle Olaf)
    3) 1977 Volvo 244 (300k when sold, lasted over 400k before dieing)
    4) 1968 Chevelle SS w/396 – beautiful until engine gave way
    5) 1971 VW 411 (most break downs)
    6) 1979 Volvo 245 – Near perfect condition and sold to friends
    7) 1974 144 – Bought to fix for Beau but he didn’t want it
    8) 1969 142 – Went to brother then back to us
    9) 1968 145 (Juanita)
    10) 1967 122 wagon – bought as parts car but drove occasionally
    11) 1968 122 wagon – Sent overseas when sold
    12) 1971 1800E (wedding present)
    13) 1991 744 Turbo – Red and hot
    14) 1985 765 Turbo (Rosemary – top 5 favorite cars)
    15) 1990 745 Turbo (Sara)
    16) 1983 244 Turbo – near perfect condition & made money when sold
    17) 1985 744 Turbo – Trashed with frame issues
    18) 1989 Celebrity – used baby seat to hold up driver’s seat
    19) 1985 C2500 Suburban (replaced 454 engine)
    20) 1988 Century
    21) 1987 Century – Gave away to Earl who drove to over 200k before wrecking
    22) 1996 Breeze (saw shop ALOT, so sold)
    23) 1996 Grand Voyager (lease take over)
    24) 1998 Intrigue (GREAT car that never let us down)
    25) 1992 Caprice (Roach I)
    26) 2002 Alero GL2 (Top 5 favorite cars) – bought new
    27) 1993 T-Bird – Electrical issue, typical Ford
    28) 1994 Caprice (Roach II)
    29) 1988 C2500 PU (Totalled title, so returned 3 months after owning)
    30) 1982 242 Turbo – Trashed and well used with electrical problems

I've always wanted one of these, or at least my 85 back, Turbo or Anniversary. Friend had an 83 Trans Am...couple of girls flew past in one of these 87-8 Turbo T-Birds...couldn't keep up for nothing. Just walked away on us. And we thought the TA was fast.

Dang, I took one look at them there Scamps and I said to myself - those look like something I would've picked up at an Autopac auction in Winnipeg!

I'm short of picks right now - but check my sig for the vehicle history.

Re: Cars we used to own

Wow alot of you have guys have owned some exciting cars... and I only have two under my belt currently.. (more in 2007!)...

    1. 1994 Mazda Protege
Bought this because my parents kept telling me to get something cheap.. and at this point I didnt know much about cars. Eventually got in a car accident and Allstate bought it from me.
Any main problems with this car? Yes.. It always overheated and I could never find the problem.
Most memorable moment? The day I got in the crash the whole front and back end looked horrible. And my parents wouldnt lend me their car so I could go to a concert that same day... so I got an old guitar cable (you read right) and used it to tie my trunk down since it wouldnt anymore. I still went to go see the concert! In Flames and Unearth were awesome!

    2. 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue
Yes alot of you are already aware of this vehicle, since I complain about it so much. Right now its at a mechanics till I can get the cash to rethread it.. but I plan to fix it real nice and sell it.
Any main problems with this car? Yes. Overheating became a huge factor...
Most memorable moment? Not having this car for about 8 months since it was just sitting there with no engine.
