Last Sunday night he found a Capri XR2 (convertible) on Craigslist for $1100 in Wixom. I went with him to check it out and we were able to drive it home for $950.
I know this thread is worthless without pix lol but he did pretty well for the money. Being an XR2 it gets a Mazda 1.6L w/ turbo and intercooler, good for a stock 135 hp...not much but it's pretty quick. Rear sway bar, fog lamps, and a few other things I guess. 5 speed manual. Convertible top is decent, NO rust, cruise, air con, power locks/windows (all works), good tires. It runs and drives well. 114k miles. New alternator, timing belt, clutch cable.
It has a few dents, bumpers were touched up with the wrong shade of silver, shifter linkage is loose as a goose, and the seat covers are shot.
Has a factory boost gauge and you can definitely feel the boost come on. Only a little lag. Owner's manual doesn't say that you have to use more than 87 octane (no mention of premium or anything). I had him fill it with midgrade right after buying it...was empty anyway. Previous owner said he only used regular as well. I'll have my bro run it almost empty and then see how it runs on 87.
I'll try to get some pix. He's 17 and this complements his '90 Reatta coupe. He's driven stick before but this is his first-own manual trans car and first convertible.
And yes, I'll try to get pix.
