Im quite a fan of the Mazda3, I feel like im the only one on this forum I agree with the whole smiley face debate, in the fact it is too overdone but I dont think its nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Atleast it has some personality unlike the Cruze.

The MPG ratings arent very good for such a little car. Really surprising to me especially after the MCE (well was it a MCE?, IDK).

Looking forward to seeing what you think about it.

You're not the only one. I just bought a red 2010 Mazda 3 5 door last Saturday. I'll try to post some pics soon, the bright red has metal flake in it which is something I've never seen before. It's awesome. If GM made a decent small car anytime in the past 10 years I woulda considered them. The Cruze was too boring and is taking forever to come out.

And bballr4567, the ratings aren't great but I'm getting 26 mpg in city driving with the A/C on in a car that still has less than 150 miles on it.

Not too bad then. I do love the 5 door model far more than the sedan. Its even more sporty looking while having that extra room in the back.

It's more than mid-cycle (as it should be; the first generation already lasted six years). And no, mileage ratings aren't great, but at least there's the i models for the mpg-seeker.

It needs a 6 speed auto and direct injection then I'd be all over the iTouring.

Ahhh, I tried to find the generation list but had no success.

As far as the MPG, the Cobalt SS got HIGHER than the 3 ratings yet it had 100 more HP and TQ.

If its one thing that Mazda is behind in, its the MPG war. Even the I models have "low" ratings for the size of the car to me especially when the new Cruze and Focus will have 40 MPG in at least one trim level on each car.

    Re: The Mazda3 thread

I have lost most of my interest in imports, however along with the VW Jetta TDI the Mazda 3 has to be one of the best compact vehicles currently for sale. I really think the Mazda 3 shows whats in store for the future of compact vehicles. No longer will they be void of upscale options or lackluster powertrains, they will have the best features of larger vehicles but in smaller packages.

An awesome little car. Expensive, yes, but you get what you pay for. And how can you not love the Celestial Blue Mica!

    It is a full redesign.

At least with some careful driving, one can easily beat the ratings. I routinely get 31+ in mine.

Funny, where I am the 1.8 manual Corolla sells for $5,000 (3,000 USD?) more than the 2.0 Manual Mazda3. Its actually one of the most reasonably priced.

    Re: The Mazda3 thread

while the styling is subjective I think it looks pretty good in black. One thing that really bothers me for some reason is that power locks arent standard in the base model which is what, like $17K? I dont understand how you can put power windows but not power locks.
