2016 Yukon Denali- Great Car/BAD vibration

I have been back to the dealer more than 8 times. Tires balanced, rotated, and then done again. The GMC technical rep even requested the vehicle be sent to a different, larger, dealer to do the same thing. Vibration continues. It is NOT the tires.

I am convinced it is the Magnetic Ride Control. Vibration is easily noticeable at all speeds, from 10 right on up to 80. More noticeable when even a slight imperfection in the road. I've had individuals ride in the car actually say, "your car has the Shivers!"

GM has said -- the vibration is within parameters of similar vehicles. CASE CLOSED!

I am so fed up with this vibration... should NOT happen on a $70,000 Vehicle. The dealer has 3 times rented me another GM product while they worked on mine. All three were cheap (under $40k price) vehicles, and ALL road smoother than this 2016 GMC Denali

I love the car/HATE the vibration. I travel a lot... and with now 6,000 miles in just 4 months... the vibration is simply getting to me. You can hear it! Feel it! and cannot get rid of it.

It's highly unlikely it's the Magnetic Ride. There are plenty of Silverado's, Sierra's, Tahoe's, etc without MRC that have the same vibration, for which GM hasn't found a definitive cause, nor a solution.

The article seems to suggest it might be related to AFM, in which case isn't there a fuse or something you could pull to turn AFM off to isolate the issue?

GM regional flew in a tech rep... who is the individual who 'closed' my case by stating the vibration is 'within specifications.' I had asked if there was any way to shut off the Magnetic Ride Control, and the answer was no. Very disappointed with GM not even willing to try and fix the problem, particularly if there are a number of other Tahoe's and Yukon's that have a similar vibration. I have now driven 3 different Yukon Denali's -- and all of them have a vibration -- perhaps not as pronounced as in my rig, but still very noticeable.

Highly unlikely to be MRC or AFM. The SUVs had a problem with roof buffeting at highway speeds (as reported in the article posted above). If that's not your problem, GM has a bulletin detailing troubleshooting steps for isolating vibration problems. I've seen it on the GM-Trucks forum. Tell your service manager you want your Yukon put through the steps to find the problem or you want it bought back.

I've seen so many complaints about this vibration issue with GMs new trucks. It's been going on for awhile now. I hope they get it situated soon...

How Mrs. Barrah has not been notified of this due to her new problem reporting structure is beyond me.

They need to get this on the fast track for a major redo with all the problems like this that are showing up. They've shown they're capable of it with other vehicles so they need to get on it with these.

There's no way she doesn't know about it.

The problem is, GM doesn't appear to have a clear cut way to fix it. That or it's a problem with the design of the vehicle and it's unfixable. If it's the latter, it's weird that certain trucks (like the three I've owned) don't have any vibration issues.

The fix is too expensive is the only reason GM won't fix these. If anyone is expecting GM to step up and fix their vehicle with vibration issues, you are wasting your time. You will have to look outside of GM for the fix and it may cost $1000 or more. What is it worth to fix it? I had a serious vibration issue with my 2015 Silverado. GM said it was normal and they all do it, etc. I fixed it on my own with some guidance from a GM tech. It cost $423 in parts with my labor. But now it rides like a dream.

I hope the 'savings' is worth it to GM. They've pissed a lot of guys off on the other forums.

They're taking hits to trade their vibrating Silverados/Sierras in on Rams, F-150s and Tundras.

Just curious, what was your fix? I almost bought a Yukon Denali last year, kind of glad I didn't now.

can you tell me what parts are needed, and how to go about the fix. I am at wits end working with the service Dept. And, I never got to talk directly to the GM Tech Rep, even though I requested that several times before the day that they flew him in.

My 2015 Silverado doesn't have the MRC so it may have a different solution. My tech understands very well the underlying cause of the vibrations. The GM design of the suspension damping is to have very light damping (compression and rebound) in the first 1-2 inches of vertical wheel travel. In a small percentage of vehicles (less than 25%) one or more of the wheel positions has virtually no damping in the first 1-2 inches of travel. Though this meets GM minimum specifications it allows for a resonant vibration in a frequency that is perceptible.

The fix requires addressing the damping by changing the dampers (shocks) to ones that have firm damping (non OEM) in the first 1-2 inches of travel. I also changed out the suspension bushings for firmer polyurethane bushings. Problem solved! Drives like the GM engineers intended smooth and vibration free.
