Lightbulb Will the Sonic be Chevy's next performance car???

I keep coming across the Sonic being metioned alongside the Corvette and Camaro. It seems Chevy is planning to market this car as some sort of performance car. I think a performance version of this car is an fantastic idea. "entry-level performance" you know? something that is reasonably cheap, handles like a champ, packs a good punch, great on gas, fun to drive, looks good in 5 door form, sign me up. e85 would be nice, too...

what would this car need to be a respected enthusiast car without shooting the price too high???

...a GM-made "pocket rocket" to go up against the Japanese 'rice' rockets?

If the Sonic is GM's 'next performance car' the company should just go ahead and close now and save itself the slow painful death while everyone watches and laughs. To compare Sonic to Corvette or Camaro is a stupid joke.

What about the Cobalt SS before it? It wasn't an end all be all, but it certainly holds it own very well.

The potential for this car is huge. What they do with it is yet to be seen.

No ones saying this needs to be their Halo car, but it definitely should be availabe as a fun and sporty car. Something that gets the attention of the younger generation, looking to buy their first car. If GM ignores this segment, they will lose those same customers as they graduate to more expensive cars.
