    Whyyyy the color combination restrictions??!

I have decided I would replace my 2014 Mazda 3 Hatchback (my only non-GM car ever) with the all-new Cruze Hatch. I want the cool new Orange Burst exterior, with Kinetic Blue as my second choice. I also want the stylish Kalahari interior color. Seems simple enough, right? GM tells me no. I can only have a Jet Black interior with the orange or Jet Black or Dark Atmosphere/Light Atmosphere (read "two-tone mud grey) with the blue. Whyyyy???! I hate all-black interiors because they are just drab and lifeless to me and the new grey combo is like a 90s rental car color scheme. Orange Burst with the Kalahari interior would look fantastic together. But unless GM will allow a color combination override if I order (like they do for Camaro and Corvette), I am stuck choosing a combo I don't like. Who dreams this stuff up?! GM is not the only company to do this I realize, but how and why do they decide on these strange restrictions?

Well to be fair, it'd be an orange car with an orange-ish interior.

Back in the '70s Ford UK changed their whole range to uniform colour coding - red body, seats, carpet, dashboard, rooflining, door trims, switches, etc - didn't last though.

It would at least match, unlike the Cajun Red and Kalahari combo which IS available

You can always pick black or white or 50 shades of gray metallic...make it easy on your car salesmen to clean up the lot.

Any true colour option is for the sissies, remember by definition black and white (and all in between) are not even part of colour specter.

GM has lost it's way when it comes to exterior colors and matches for the interior. This black, more black, and all black sucks.

Nooooo kidding. On the 2017 Cruze alone there are SIX variations of grey paint: silver ice, pepperdust, graphite, tungsten, nightfall and arctic blue. GM's color & trim department seriously needs to take a cue from Fiat Chrysler when it comes to colors.

And now the headliner on new Cruzes is also black instead of light grey, so it's like being inside of a coal bin.

Re: Whyyyy the color combination restrictions??!

This is the single worst thing about cars and trucks for the past 20 some odd years and is getting so old and tiring. We must have looked at 50 GM and Ford cars the past couple of weekends. 98% of them had black or grey interiors with the other 2% having tan or the garish orange or Moroccan color on the seats and door panels. I did sit in a 2016 Chrysler 200 a while back in AWD V6 S trim that had a blue themed interior that was so refreshing and looked very upscale. I think I saw a 300 with that same blue interior also. More cars need this option along with some nice shades of brown.

It's the downside of buy from stock - rather than built to order.

Re: Whyyyy the color combination restrictions??!

Colors need a comeback and not at a premium charge either. Way to many black/white/silver combinations.

Look at GM in the 1960s - there were 15-16 colors available each year, and only 3 of them were black, white, and silver. Multiple shades of blue, green, and red available each year. Even Brown, orange, yellow, and gold.

    I also miss blue/red/green interiors.
