    Wheel/Rim Fit Question

    Hi ya'll,

I'd like to know if a set of 16x7"/5x115mm American Racing wheels will fit a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Amazon.com says they will fit, but the American Racing website says they are "not recommended" (the 17", 18", and 20" are however). Thanks for any help.

    Re: Wheel/Rim Fit Question

Several pieces of information will be needed to give a more accurate answer. If your Monte Carlo has 16 inch tire/wheels right now, then the wheels should work. If you do not have a factory set of wheels/tires on your car, then you may be able to open the door & see the factory tire placard either on the door frame or the body near the door latch with the driver's door open. That label will tell you what your specific car left the factory with. According to various websites, if your MC is an LS trim car (some LT cars also), it came with 16" tires/wheels from the factory.

American Racing may say that they are "not recommended" due to not having enough or the proper information. But remember, with any set of wheels that you decide to buy, make sure to test fit one wheel on one of the front corners. This will make sure that if there is any interference with a brake caliper or a suspension part, you should be able to return the wheels. Most places that sell wheels have a policy that once a tire is mounted to a wheel, it can't be returned.

What size came on your Monte Carlo from the factory? Check another site, such as TireRack.com

    Re: Wheel/Rim Fit Question

The car has factory 16" steel wheels. American Racing told me they would fit after I emailed them. If it had factory alloys I'd keep those. I'm cheap so I want to buy rims that will fit my new-ish tires. If they don't fit for some reason I'll return them. Thanks!
