What happens to the SS after Holden?

The SS Sedan (that's how it appears on Chevrolet's website) is pretty much the only current Chevy model that really interests me but being based on the not-long-for-this-world Holden Commodore and all, its days are numbered.

Has anyone heard anything about a possible NA-engineered replacement? Or will this be a (short-sighted, completely typical of the "new" GM's plan for Chevrolet to be "America's Toyota") "get it while you can" type of deal?

There is a new program next year: if you buy an El Camino, they will toss in an SS for free.

We'd of heard about the SS/Commodore V8 RWD replacement by now.
Now or never, GM. Give Holden good RHD cars, or give Holden to someone who will.

Considering the fact that its days are numbered.. why not just go get one now if it is the only Chevy that interests U? If money and other things are the problem.. wait a few years and get a used one.

After driving the SS if almost pains me to see it go, but Chevy/GM is a business and a business that must from these times on be seen as cutting edge. The ZETA platform is more than 10 years old, and despite it being an absolute excellent one, new and better RWD platforms are now avail, or will be avail to carry the torch. I personally believe that the next gen Impala will be RWD on Omega or a stretched Alpha

Re: What happens to the SS after Holden?

Right now, rumors are all that will replace the current SS. Until another RWD sedan of similar size gets announced, then there is no official replacement for the SS. Even an announcement doesn't guarantee that you will be able to buy one (cough*G8 ST*cough), so if the SS is what you like, go for it. As Miatso said, if the price is a bit much, wait for the pre-owned market. But be advised, the G8 GXP market has shown higher prices than might be expected for a car of its age. Prepare for the possibility that a used SS will fall into the same situation.

Since the day it was revealed it was a get it while you can deal. There was nothing else on the horizon. Time is counting down. If you want one, get one.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy gets a version of the LF3 and AWD (ala XTS-VSport) for the Impala.. recreating the SS. Altho not RWD, I truly believe that it would be a helluva sweet car. Say about 390HP, U telling me U wouldn't wanna buy?

Nope, that would easily push the car over $50k. When you get into that type of pricing its hard to justify it.

Yes. A 3.6L Impala LT starts at $31K. They could easily put an SS in at a starting price of $41K, which would eventually top out at $55K and sell a nice bit of them I think. All I am speaking of here is essentially what Ford does with the SHO.. which I truly believe an Impala SS with GM's "Ecoboost" would absolutely murder

Once this one is done.....it's done.
Pony Car: an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image and an available V8.

I could see an Omega version being possible. If not then Alpha

Re: What happens to the SS after Holden?

GM should produce an Impala SS, yet I'm not sure they think they can make money on it. I believe they are wrong, but it's their decision
